Work in Progress...WIP?

01/01/13 -
Here I go again. Will I ever reach a point where I'm not starting over?
Happy that we all can have "do overs". The New Year beginning is cliche but what the heck. Time for my do over moment. I have events (LA Marathon and half-marathons) to participate in and this year I will be better than before. While doing them I will whip this body back into shape.

01/03/12 -

Where has the time gone? I've been with SparkPeople for 3 years now and still everyday is a struggle. I definitely thought my goal would be realized by now, but nope not there yet. 2010 closed on a high note since I was pushing forward to my goals (Surf City Half Marathon and LA Marathon). Fear was a big motivator for me since I didn't want to fail at either event. Both were terrific and even had my best time yet at the LA Marathon during a bad storm. The training paid off since my body was looking good and lots of people noticed. Then, I took a break, then another and then just became lazy. Well, not totally lazy. I exercised but not at the same peak while training for my events but I didn't curtail my eating habits and even picked up a few I shouldn't have. As a result, I lost progress and even gained weight (not all). Now I need to regain the progress and get back on track. Same story, new year.

Here I am working on my 2012 goals (half marathons and marathon). So, as I work on these goals if the by product is reaching (or getting closer) to my weight goal then all the better.

11/28/10 -

I returned from the East Coast today. The visit was great but I'm glad to be home. My birthday month will close in 2 days. It's been a good month for me. I lost some weight and visited family.

In October I completed the Rock N Roll LA Half Marathon and this month I registered for the Surf City Half Marathon in Feb 2011.

November may be closing but I'll keep on exercising and eating right to further my goal of losing 60 pounds.

December feels like it will be a great month and terrific year ending.

6/20/10 -

I'm kicking it into high-gear now.

When I started with SparkPeople I was ambitious with my goals (lots of half-marathons and a marathon; lose 60pds).
Well, I lost some weight but that is it and lately that has stalled. Previously I wasn't ready for the marathons and never fully committed to training. But now I'm ready to do it. I've done a 10k and at a good pace and this week I'll test out pushing to 8 miles to see where my stamina is. I've already registered for the LA Half in October so I'm committed since I don't like paying and not participating.

Time to shake up my routine and start hitting the hills.

I also am re-committing to checking my eating habits. More discipline with healthy eating.

Time to see some new results, I've been standing still long enough!

7/8/09 -
Today I returned to the Team workout. It's been over 2 weeks...

All my life I have struggled to either lose weight or maintain a weight standard. Many years ago I returned home (PA) to visit my family and realized just how big (fat) my relatives were. I was also, but smaller than the others (or so I convinced myself). I realized I didn't want to be this way, but again I never took the time to focus my energy on losing weight. I even had a gym membership that I didn't use...for 2 yrs. Finally I did and guess what - I loved it! I still miss my water aerobics instructor.

I cut the membership when I was looking to cut finances. But then started walking more (save gas) and never realized how much weight I was losing until 30 pounds was reached. I've maintained that loss, thank goodness!!

In 2005 I relocated to Southern California (previously lived in N. Cal) allowed me to lose another 20. I think it was stress from moving. Anyway, a co-worker asked people to train with her for the LA Marathon and I joined without knowing how many miles are in a marathon. Training on the coastline of Palo Verdes was agonizing but beautiful. I felt great and the extra bonus was my body showed the results! Plus, I met a man...hmmmm.

I walked in the LA Marathon and cried at the end because I couldn't believe I had completed a marathon. After it was done, I realized that it wasn't a struggle, it just felt like a nice long walk with friends and strangers who became friends along the way. And you receive a nice shiny medal, WooHoo!!!

Well, it's been over a year since I had any real activity. A little walking from time to time. I've lost the body results previously seen (regained the 20 pds) and now I want that back.

My health is good and if I can get my weight down I can say I'm a healthy individual.

Dude002 told me (and told me) about SparkPeople and the team workouts. So here I am...my commitment is still shaky but the good news is I haven't given up. thank you Dude002
