Tx Grandma's thoughts

I have several new, healthy habits since joining Spark People, three years ago!

I strive to get at least 7 hours of sleep at night, preferably 8 hours!

Became more active

Drinking all my water, and then some!

Cut out diet sodas, though I do sometimes allow myself one a day..........

Eat a tossed salad nearly every evening with supper, I really miss it if I don't get it!

I am at least conscious now of the need for more ...

I am at least conscious now of the need for more exercise, and have discovered that at this time in my life, I MUST exercise to be successful in my desire to lose weight.

I work every day to eat correctly, to make it a lifetime habit!

I have Spark Friends now from all over the US and even some in foreign countries!

My husband and I have decided on a lifestyle change that will be difficult for me at first. We have come to the decision that we want to travel more, venturing out in our RV. We are planning on keeping our stallion and continuing to stand him to outside mares, plus will be keeping Lexi as my riding horse.

Part of my new lifestyle will be riding Lexi more often. I plan on riding at least 3 times a week which is a good addition to my fitness plan. It is surprising how many calories you burn riding a horse!

I plan on staying with Spark People as long as I have access to a computer! The articles and friends I have made help to keep me on track!

My Goals:
My goals are to lose the weight slowly but steadily, with the adoption of healthy eating habits! I have learned SO MUCH from Spark People in the time that I have been a member, realizing that YES, I really DO want to make a permanent change in my diet, that will make my body healthier than ever! I have quit drinking sodas totally, and not eating any more sweets, as a rule, because everything tastes just TOO sweet, and I have no desire for it! I don't care how long this takes me, it is a worthy goal!

My Program:
I have always been an outdoors person, would much rather be outside helping than in the house. I am trying very hard to keep processed foods and fats at a minimum, and avoid fast foods at all costs! I have so many friends on Spark People now, and they provide me with so much encouragement and motivation!

Personal Information:
I am a wife, mother of 2 (and step mother of 2 more) a grandmother of one biological grandchild plus 3 step grandchildren.

I was born and raised in Michigan, but have lived in Texas since 1981. I also have 2 brothers who live here. There is one brother still in Michigan, and my sister lives in Alaska.

Other Information:
My husband and I enjoy traveling, especially with our RV. At least, with that, we always know where we are spending the night! Eventually, we want to become full time RVers! I like reading, riding my horse, and playing with our grandchildren.

Kitty Coo is doing ok, still is very nervous but she was a feral born kitten. And prior to my getting her she was sent to a few homes and then ended up living in a car.

The GREAT news, she got her first kill today, not a mouse or a rat but a lizard, which I really do not like, but it is a start and shows she is a hunter. I have high hopes for her.

That picture of the boys is from 2 years ago. They've sure grown since then and we don't get to have them for overnights so often (too many ball games for them!!). They are great kids and naturally we love them to heaven and back. The park model is tiny...as all park models are. The porch is a partially enclosed deck, not screened. That is one thing about AZ--very few bugs/insects and only an occasional fly or mosquito. Richard is out cutting grass right now to try to beat the rain that is predicted for almost the entire weekend. We have a lot of indoor projects we can work on, but sure enjoy being out when we can. Hope you have a nice holiday, Chris! Love, Jeannie

Hey my little sister! Stopping by to say, that I have been absent the last few days. I had two or three no sleep nights in a row and it kicks my butt. Hard to think or get anything done. I can't even get motivated to want to do anything. Hoping for a better night tonight.

Thanks for stopping in and commenting on my blog "Today". I am trying something different with finding quotes that fit me or my thoughts!! Thanks again!

So glad the storms missed you!! Boy, OK sure has been getting so severe weather!! It is kind of like us with our rain. It doesn't know when to quit!! Today we had a day of sunshine!! It was a WOW day. Didn't think I would remember what it looked like after 7 days of rain and clouds! (lol)

We are toying with ERS but haven't yet gotten it but have the emergency services. When my dad died, they had it and his flight back home and mom's flight was covered. Dad had massive PE's 2+ yrs. before and I had him flown up to the Twin Cities for care and the helicopter was paid in full. They offer so much with health. Now that we don't have extended warranties on the truck and camper, we are thinking about the ERS. GS is a great organization to be a member of.
