February 18, 2016

I have been on and off Spark since 2010. I would lose and then lose interest. I'm retired and have many other projects to do and trips to take which I'd rather do than work on weight loss. But this time is different. This time I have a serious health challenge. I received a diagnosis of Diabetes.

I really got cracking after that! With lots of self-education, self-discipline and change of eating habits I have lost fifteen pounds and taken my blood glucose numbers into a normal range. The doctor and I are both hoping that I will be able to control this with continual exercise, diet modifications and some pills.

Now that I have started some weight loss again I want to keep going and get back to a really healthy weight and fitness. That may take over a year, but I'm serious about making a life change, not just a temporary one. As Lincoln said: "We must make haste slowly."

Exercises of choice: stationary bike and walking

Add strength training
resistance bands
some light weights
body resistance exercises

Personal Information:
72 years old
diagnosed Type 2 diabetes Dec 7, 2015 which currently is well under control.

Generally good health now and have had excellent health up to this time.

Have been thin and have been fat. This is still the most overweight I've ever been.

I'm a homebody. I'd rather cook for myself than go out to eat. I prefer solitary exercise to joining classes because 1) I enjoy the flexibility to control my time and 2) I'm a bit of a germaphobe when it comes to being with lots of people. Not as bad as MONK, (who BTW is a distant relative,) but I've suffered through too many decades of illnesses picked up by being exposed to sick people.

I am TERRIFIED of bed bugs. UGH! I've never seen one, hope to never see one.

Other Information:
I have cut out most breads and sweets except for rare occasions.

I've cut down meat portions. My plates currently are 2/3 full of veggies and fruit.

I have been learning exciting new tastes from many natural foods I've never had before!

I find the changes I've been making to be even more FUN than they are Beneficial...though of course they are very beneficial.

Thanks so much for the great article referral. Yes...it is so true...it's just easier to blame the foreclosure crisis on 'those darned homeowners' than face the fact that this world is run by the moneyed and the powerful...really kinda makes you sick at your tummy doesn't it?

I always thought of us as pretty free and free wheeling self employed entrepreneurs...this whole housing debacle has just got me freaked out about how few civil liberties we really have...I mean heck...a criminal has more rights than a homeowner fighting foreclosure...at least they get a trial by a jury of their peers...not some pompous old coot that doesn't have a clue how the REAL world works.

At least I still have a little American independent rage left...we will see how this all shakes out...wish I had gone to law school...I feel like I know so much about illegal foreclosures from the past SIX years of self learning I could do better than some who have the title.

It's all good...we shall persevere...we really have no other options...right...thanks ever so much for your encouragement and your prayers! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Your comment leaves me with more to think about. Thank you Ann, and here I thought Dr. Laura was truly original. NOT! ;o)

Thanks for your comment on my blog! Yes, I do indeed include my running steps in my total for the day. I would really be in trouble if I did not! My job is indeed at a desk. I can get up and walk around sometimes, and most of the time I am not too busy to do such a thing. My only consideration is that my boss is extremely nosey and conspiratorial so I limit my get-up-and-walk-around sessions so he doesn't start getting all "concerned" about what I am doing. Sounds funny, but that is where things are at right now.

Thank you EVER so much for your empowering and encouraging comments on my last blog!

I am writing a book about this whole long sad saga I want to call it "The Terrorists of Wall Street" because as we all know the meaning of a terrorist is someone who uses violence and threats to intimidate or coerce people (homeowners) into a state of submission..

Terrorists use violence sending their 'clear out' thugs to break into people's houses when they refuse to back down to their foreclosure threats),

They marionette the government by controlling the members of the judicial courts, congress and the senate and most probably even the President through money. Who controls all of those spineless puppets through their pension plans and 401 accounts, savings and stock market accounts...and slush money for votes....yep..easiest way to uncover a rat is to follow the money trail.

It's all so very sad and sorrowful and what magnifies it is to go after homeowners most coveted and treasured asset is egregious and ultra cruel...it will continue until we start standing up for ourselves and say NO....NO...NO!

Really, I'm not a conspiracy theorist...but after the ride we've been on for the past 7 years... I could well feel that way...I mean...seriously!

Anyhow I will read your comments daily and they will spur me on...the world needs to know how these gangsters work. Nothing takes down the emperor like exposing him for wearing no clothes... emoticon

I'm adding you as a friend so that I can encourage you on your journey to health and happiness also! emoticon
