So now I'm back again: mid-way between my lowest weight of the decade at 188 and my highest weight of 215. Any time I get in the mid 190s I get concerned; any time I slide above 200 I get scared! Right now I am scared.

The cheap scale I have registered 205 two weeks ago, which prompted me to exercise and watch portions and sweets intake. This morning the scale is about 202.

Weight loss would be wonderful, and ultimately it is my goal to lose weight. But more important to me right now (and forever) is to get my heart pumping to up the metabolism to ward off diabetes or other physical ailments.

In the past I spent a lot of time recording everything on the Spark trackers. And one can get suckered into reading and writing blogs. I don't expect to be doing much of that this time around. I want to stay focused and "on task" of speaking strictly about my "program" and result and to Oblivion with all the fluff of "being creative."

My Goals:
I want to lose 50-60 pounds to be 150-140 pounds.

I want to lose one (or at least 1/2 pound) a week until I reach 150 pounds.

My Program:
Summer of 2015 I will walk or stationary bike 30 minutes EVERY day.

I will cut down on sweets and carbs.

I will avoid, as much as possible, processed foods.

Personal Information:
I am single, 71 years old and live in a suburb of Minneapolis, MN. I (so far) have had no health problems except I'm currently on the cusp of Type 2 Diabetes. The thought of getting this disease scares me and I figure that at my age I don't have much time left to get into shape.

I have been up and down, back and forth on the scales for much of my life. I believe that 150-140 is a reasonable goal for a person of my age.

Other Information:
My plan is to cut down the sweets and processed food in my diet and to exercise more. I've started a walking program for about two weeks now and find that it makes me less hungry the rest of the day.

One great advantage I have is that I rarely eat out because I don't much like restaurants, either their food or their ambiance. That means that I do just about all of my food prep myself so I know what's in it. Also, I love fruits and veggies so my plate is filled with lots of the "good stuff." My two big weaknesses are breads and in-between snacking on candies, cookies, etc.
