I'm a 41-year-old female living in Northern Michigan with my boyfriend Don. I've been overweight since I was 6, and became morbidly obese at the age of 21 after having twins. I topped out at 335 lbs! I had a lot of problems physically and mentally. I had depression and anxiety and zero self esteem. Abusive people saw this and came running, claiming to be friends or boyfriends, just to have fun abusing me. I have weird ankles, so all my weight would crush down on the insides of them just below the ankle bone while I was work, causing great pain. By the time I'd get home from work and sit down, everything would seize up in my ankles and I could barely hobble around the rest of the night. I had hip and lower back pain, too. It got to the point where I couldn't buy clothes big enough to fit me, not even from the men's section, so I just continued to wear what little things I did have that fit, wearing them out to rags, so I looked like a slob. I felt ashamed and I hated myself. I didn't try to wear make up or anything nice and I kept my hair chopped off, and wore clothes that were very baggy, because I felt so ugly and nasty.
Then on February 6, 2014, I bought an exercise bike and started riding it every day and got very strict about my eating, using Sparkpeople to track everything. By December 2014 I had lost 150 lbs! My life drastically changed. I got rid of the nasty ex who cheated on me for 6 years. In December 2014 I re-met the man I'm with now, who I went to school with, but lost touch with for 21 years. He's a wonderful person who has done nothing but treat me right for the past 2 years. He and I are a lot alike. We were both abused as kids and cheated on as adults. Don is the only man I've ever dated who has treated me well. But anyway, back to the story:
I was always shocked when I saw my reflection. I started wearing make up and stopped cutting my hair. I was amazed that I was able to buy nice clothes and they fit and didn't come out of the plus-sized section! My family and co-workers were amazed by my progress. The ankle pain and all other pain stopped about midway through the 150 lbs. The depression lifted and I no longer needed meds for it. I upped the exercise bike time from 20 minutes to 30 minutes a day and started walking every day, too.
Then in Feb. 2015 I moved in with my boyfriend in a new town and got a new job. That's when I started to slip. I was working in a grocery store, so I was buying things for lunch I shouldn't have been. The exercise bike broke in the move, so I didn't have that, and my new job was 45 miles from home, so I spent 11 1/2 hours of my day (9 hour shifts and a 90 mile round trip commute) not at home, not able to exercise. First I gained back 20 lbs. Then after 8 months I left that job for one much closer. The problem is, it's a gas station, full of junk food, and I spent the next year binge eating every day. I gained back a total of 75 lbs! I've lost 11 of them so far, but I have a long way to go just to get back to the weight I was at in late 2014 and then I have to get to my goal weight.
For almost a month now I've been back doing what I should be doing. I replaced the broken exercise bike with a good working one and I am back to my strict eating. The last screw up was Thanksgiving, but like my brother said, "Hey relax, it's the holiday!" Lol. I've been doing good since then.

Long term: To lose all my extra weight and keep it off for life.
Following Sparkpeople's exercise suggestions and keeping my eating in check. Documenting everything I eat and drink to make sure I am within the limits SP set for me and recording all my exercise. Riding my exercise bike for 60 minutes a day and doing strength exercises everyday, as well as walking when the weather is not frigid or rainy. Staying away from grease, salt and sugar. No pop. No seconds. No heaping helpings. Lots of water.

I love wolves, dogs, rats, and dragons. I like to read, write, be online, travel, swim, make websites, do crafts, draw, and go to concerts. I make daily YouTube vlogs. I like comedy movies the most. I like a lot of different kinds of music. I have five tattoos. I love my family, friends and my boyfriend Don dearly.

Plateaus are very frustrating. In order for the scale to move in the right direction, I had to stop all exercise. It seems that every time I try to lose weight, I do really well in the beginning, then as soon as I add in exercise of any kind (including just walking), I start to gain weight. I have read many articles that support this phenomena, so I am not the only one. Try it for a week or so, and see if you too have this problem. I commented here because it isn't a very popular thing to tell someone to stop exercising in order to lose weight. It couldn't hurt to try.
