GAINING PLEASE HELP

HI MY NAME IS VALERIE, I'M 44 AND I JUST FOUND OUT I HAVE DIABETES. I'VE BEEN EATING HEALTHIER, OR SO I THOUGHT. I HAVE BATTLED WITH MY WEIGHT MOST OF MY LIFE, HOWEVER I HAD A SURGERY BACK IN 2004 WHICH I STARTED PACKING ON POUNDS. NOT ONLY AM I NOW DIABETIC BUT I HAVE OUT OF CONTROL BLOOD PRESSURE. i WAS GOING TO DO GASTRIC BYPASS BUT I BARELY MEET THE REQUIREMENT MY BMI ONLY 35 BUT BECAUSE I HAVE 2 CO-MORBIDITIES MY INSURANCE WILL PAY FOR IT HOWEVER I DON'T WANNA GO THAT ROUTE. TO MANY ...

TO MANY MORE HEALTH RISKS, AND THIS ISN'T THE HEAVIEST I'VE EVER BEEN. BACK IN MY 20'S I WAS UP TO 265 AND I GOT DOWN TO 150 (ACCORDING TO BMI CHART MY IDEAL WEIGHT IS 155) UNFORTUNATELY I DIDN'T LOSE IT PROPERLY BUT AFTER BEING 150 I STARTED EATING RIGHT GAINED ONLY 20 TO 30 LBS BACK AND MAINTAINED MYSELF FOR YEARS VARYING BETWEEN 170 AND 180 FOR YEARS UNTIL MY SURGERY THAT I HAD IN 2004 WHICH PUT ME IN EARLY MENOPAUSE. I WAS PACKIN ON THE POUNDS AND I WAS IN A VERY HIGH STRESS JOB AND MY RELATIONSHIP HAD TAKEN A TURN FOR THE WORSE. I FINALLY SEPARATED MYSELF FROM MY HIGH STRESS RELATIONSHIP IN 2011. I CAME ACROSS SPARKPEOPLE BECAUSE I'M LOOKING TO LOSE WEIGHT NON-SURGICALLY. RIGHT NOW I'M OUTTA WORK AND HAVE BEEN FOR OVER 2 MONTHS DUE TO COMPLICATIONS FROM MY DIABETES (AND ALSO FINDING OTHER ISSUES THAT ARE TREATABLE) SO I FIGURED NOWS A GOOD TIME TO START THIS PLAN

My Goals:
I would like to lose 50 lbs and then maintain like I did for years.
To keep on this not to give up.
To exercise daily.

My Program:
Learning how to balance my proteins/carbs & fats. Not skipping meals. I've never been one to exercise and I have been playing wii tennis and I love it I would love to find a tennis partner for real tennis.

Personal Information:
As I said I'm 44 I live about 20mins. from Boston. I just recently re-married, my children are 24 and 21 and I have 3 grandchildren.

Fit bit - counts your calories, steps, floors even your sleep. Most people who have it love it and keep telling me wait til I get use to it. I have to say I don't know if I can get use to something that is going to tell me I burned 120 calories in a minute it's just not possible but I will keep working with and hope.

Hi, Congratulations on your new marriage! I hope the two of you share lots of special memories!!

I love the pics with the beautiful tree in the background-looks like a redbud or a redtip? Anyway, I planted two small ones in our front yard last year and they are growing some and bloomed very pretty this year.
