Time to get my act together :-P

I gained 60 lbs in the last year or so. I've never been significantly over weight before. Usually only for a couple of months after having my children and then back to my regular weight without really making any serious effort to get there. So I know I can get my act together and decided I had better get on with it before my weight becomes a bigger issue than it already has. I have a lot of issues with my joints and movement now that I know the extra weight is just making worse. It has that ...
It has that snowball effect. Hard to move around w/o pain so I do less. When I do less I tend to eat more. When that happens I guess I gain a mess of weight that makes it hard to move around w/o pain. Nasty cycle!

Bought a gazelle glider. I've used it daily for 3 weeks. Love it. I can do a good aerobic workout that does not stress my joints even as much as walking does. My fitness level is probably about a 0 but that is an improvement over the minus 2 I think I started at. Gazelle might not be a long term exercise solution but when something is able to get me going without a great deal of pain it works for me! I really think half the battle is finding exercise I know I can do.

I've been doing the calorie counting and I don't find it difficult to stay in my range. I've lost a few lbs. I just don't really like eating that way. I think I might find the intermittent fasting type of dieting lifestyle a better fit. It more closely resembles the way I ate most of my adult life. I will still read up and learn what I can to improve upon the way I ate in the past. I know it will result in weight loss because I never gained weight eating that way but even though I'm not big on the junk food doesn't mean I couldn't learn to do even better with my nutrition. If I'm going to do it I might as well learn to be healthier as I lose weight and get my act together again :)

Thanks for the Garden Gnome, Vicky. It's quite appropriate as I've been spending a great deal of my spare time in the garden.
