5% Challenge

I've got to work harder in 2013 and get healthier. Have so many plans and warmer weather will make it easier. Going to exercise more and diet more. And get back to walking more.

How much and how often will you exercise?
I'm already walking 20 minutes a day. I plan to walk another 20 minutes if possible and up my speed of walking. I am adding core and upper body exercises using hand weights. I plan to add more core exercises and also to dance ...

What diet will you follow?
Spark diet of charting all my calories, eating more fruit and vegetables, less sugar...Eat 2 fruits a day and more protein to stave off the feelings of hunger. With gardening season upon us, I will be eating more fresh veggies and fruit.

How will you support your team?
I will post to the general chat forum daily if possible, track miles and life points daily and comment on one members page daily.

Current Weight:190 pounds
Target Weight: 180.5 pounds
By When: July 6, 2013
Hope to lose 9.5lbs which is 5% of my weight.


(Update onspring..I lost 5 lbs I hope to do much better for the spring into summer round.)

My Goals:
I mainly want to get down in weight so that I can breathe better and do some of the things I used to do. And to protect the joints and the joint replacements I have

My Program:
I plan to keep my daily calorie intake at about 1300 and up my movement in cardio (dance) to 10minutes per day.
Walking at least 15minutes per day.


Personal Information:
I'm Barb from Arkansas. I am a retired (due to disabilities RA) teacher. I have taught every grade from K-12 and I taught over 25 years. I have a BS in Education and a MEd in reading. I now do alot of embroidery and I love watching birds and taking photos of wild flowers. I love flowers and herbs and cooking. I also love trying new foods and new eating places.

Other Information:
I love embroidery and wool applique. I do not like winters as I tend to gain more then. I love the outdoors but am motion challenged now.
