Absolutely, when I've been intensely at work on a painting for a few hours and then finish for the day, it's like I'm coming back from far away. I think it's just that you are completely focused on one thing.

I know what you mean about noticing things visually more. I do the same thing, looking at colors in nature and wondering how I'd mix them. And I really notice how areas of light and shadow change the way objects look. You sound like you're really getting into it!

As far as seeing people I'd like to paint, I don't really think about it. I think I could get interested in painting anyone who was willing to sit for me, there's just so much to the human face. Except, I'd have to say, for people with very doughy faces, I find that difficult because I don't get those light and shadows.

Little mini-challenge for you: Try an Interval Walk or two this week (or adapt it whatever your cardio preference is). Exercise as fast as your can for just 30 seconds, followed by 1 minute at a steady, recovery pace, then repeat as many times as time permits. This type of "interval workout" intensifies your workout, so you don't have dedicate that much of your day to working out, but you still get the same benefits (if not more, because HITT workouts are a excellent addition to your workout regimen).
