Weight loss has been like a roller-coaster for me so I'm focusing on health and fitness. Strong is the new sexy!

30 Nov 2012 - Fitness is going great. Just about to compete in a 6.5 K adventure run. Still working on increasing my speed and also improving nutrition and keeping within my calorie guidelines.

18 Dec 2012 - Completed my adventure run in 57 minutes and wasn't last so I'm happy with the result. I'm now jogging on the treadmill for half an hour three days a week at 6.9 kph with two 10 kph intervals for one minute each. I do my physio recommended strength training sessions 3 times a week for an hour and try to fit in some walking or cycling on days when I'm not jogging. I'm pleased to say that the exercise is becoming much easier to get into and keeps me happy and motivated with my nutrition.

“Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” ~ World Health Organization

It seems like many of us face a continual battle to stay positive when little progress is apparent. We just have to keep in mind that we our efforts will result in a healthier life. We need to focus on how we are feeling and the energy we have to accomplish daily life tasks. I’m working hard to concentrate on my health rather than just on the number on the scale; to concentrate on non-scale victories to help me stay positive every day.

“There’s a difference between interest and commitment. When you’re interested in doing something, you do it only when circumstances permit. When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results.” ~Unknown

That quote describes how I’ve been living my “Sparklife” for the past year! I’ve been interested but not committed. As soon as I faced an obstacle, no matter how small and insignificant, I let it take precedence over moving forward. The result has been 10 steps back for every step forward and that MUST change. Let’s make this last week of March lead us into an awesome April! Let’s stay focused on our goals, determined to reach them, and positive that we will!
