Walking By Faith

I took a bit of a break from Spark because my schedule just was not allowing me any time to be here. The resulting weight gain has me running back to SparkLand with the hope that I can jump back on the wagon and get back into some healthy habits. I'm gonna need my SparkFriends!

My Goals:
I am on a journey to my goal of 160. (A straight path would be nice!) :-)

My Program:
-Follow the nutrition guidelines on SP

-Water, water, and more water!

-Daily cardio!

Personal Information:
I live in southeast Michigan.

I want to live a healthy lifestyle so I can be active with my kids and teach them healthy living skills.

I work a a very full-time job as a director of religious education and youth minister. But I have the bonus of extra time off during the summer with my kids!

Other Information:
My 5% exercise Commitment: For the Fall 5% Challenge I will do at least 30 minutes of cardio 6/7 days a week. I will also do strength training at least 2/7 days a week.

Note to self: Make it easier on yourself- get it done in the morning!

My 5% Nutrition Commitment: I would like to start with regular menu planning, and work my way to tracking on Spark regularly, and be within range on most days by the end of the 8 weeks.

Mini-Challenge for you: “Just A Little ... Adds Up”

Do little, metabolism-revving activities briefly throughout the whole day … like getting up to stretch, walking around, side-stepping at your desk, squats during commercials, you get the idea. Sneaking in just 5-minute exercises 6 times a day actually burns more fat over a 24-hour period of time than exercising for 30 minutes straight. Resting between bursts of activity prompts your body to use fat for fuel. So keep doing those little things … they add up to big things, like good health & fat loss! GO CHAMPIONS!!! emoticon emoticon

Mini-Challenge for you: Do something that's just for you!

Every day this week, schedule some "special" time ... just for you! Then do something that relaxes you. It could be a hobby, a peaceful walk, a bike ride, listening to music, reading a good book, or talking to a friend. Whatever gives you great pleasure.

Engaging in activities purely for pleasure is an important part of maintaining good emotional and mental health. And planning something you enjoy can also give you a healthy dose of energy. Anticipating something fun can get you up in the morning and keep you going through the day.
