Regular exercise and sensible eating

December 2011: I continued to struggle with weight gain through the summer and fall. In mid-November, I eliminated gluten from my diet. I noticed great improvement in my mood and my weight stabilized. We bought a CSA share for next June - October. I am excited about having fresh, seasonal produce to eat next summer and fall.

May 2011: I am struggling with weight gain this spring. Currently I am five pounds over where I want to be. I am working to find a sustainable fitness and nutrition routine.

November 2010: Three years on Spark People! I am getting close(159 lb) to my goal weight (155+/-2 lbs). I should be on track to be there before my daughter turns two and I am excited about that.

February 2010: My weight loss has stalled but not my enthusiasm for being healthy and fit. I made my goal of going two weeks without sweets in December and I have continued the streak. It feels great not to be controlled by cravings for sugary foods. I am currently running three days a week and following Jeff Galloway's run/walk method.

December 2009: I have been using Spark People for over two years now. Slowly and steadily whittling away the excess weight gained from pregnancy. Just recently challenged myself to go two weeks without sweets. I am seeing some very positive outcomes from this.

April 2009: Now that my youngest is two months old, it is time to get in shape. I am feeling great and ready to work hard at losing the 20 lbs that remain from my pregnancy. I am setting some short term goals (with rewards!) to help me stay focused. Short-term goals/rewards:
- 174 lbs: new running shoes (7/15/2009)
- 169 lbs: new outfit and shoes (10/18/2009)

February 2009: This is a big month for me. Our baby will be born soon and it has been one year since I reached my goal weight. With the pregnancy, my weight is back to where it was when I started SP. I have been exercising regularly throughout my pregnancy and I am confident that with the SP tools I can lose the pregnancy weight sensibly and get back to my goal weight.

December 2008: I am 34 weeks pregnant and still going strong with Spark People! The motivation I get from my teammates is incredible. My goal for 2009 is to bounce back into shape after our baby is born in February. To help me stay focused, I have set a specific goal of running a half-marathon in October 2009.

October 2008: This month marks one full year of using Spark People for me. I am five and half months pregnant. Made some changes to my daily exercise routine and I have really been enjoying that. I decreased my cardio minutes and increased the time I spend strength training. I use the nutrition tracker for a few days, every two - three weeks to make sure I am keeping my calorie intake and nutrient levels where they should be.

August 2008: I am three and half months pregnant with my second child. After muddling through the first trimester, eating and exercising as best I could, I am feeling energized and ready to stay fit throughout my pregnancy. I am walking at least 30 minutes per day and doing strength training exercises modified for pregnancy twice a week. Later this month, I will begin taking a 50-minute aqua aerobics class twice a week. I am eating sensibly and usually have six or seven small meals/snacks throughout the day.

May 2008: I have maintained my goal weight of 155 +/- 2lbs for three months. This is a great accomplishment, yet something tells me that I can be doing even more to live a healthier life. I am repeating the Spark People Diet Stages so I can reinforce and improve upon the healthy habits I developed the first time around. I do want to bring my weight down to 150 lbs, but my main focus this time is not weight loss. Instead, I am going to concentrate on eating well and improving my overall fitness, with a balance between cardio, flexibility, and strength.

February 2008: I have lost 37 lbs with Spark People! I set my goal weight at 155 lbs +/- 2lbs to put my BMI back in the healthy range. I switched my healthy lifestyle program from weight loss to weight maintenance on February 17, 2008. My new goals during maintenance include getting enough sleep and establishing a strength training routine.

October 2007: The Spark People system has been amazing . I am inspired everyday by people I meet who are working hard to establish healthy lifestyle habits. The tracking tools have been so enlightening. Before joining SparkPeople, I exercised regularly (averaging 30 - 45 minutes per day) for the last three years. That helped me stabilize my weight at around 190 lbs but inside I always felt like I could be doing better. At the same time, I never had any true motivation to watch the amounts of what I ate. The nutrition tracking tool educated me quickly about portion sizes and I am never looking back!

Exercise: walk/run intervals 3 days per week

Nutrition:
Plan three meals and two snacks per day with sensible portion sizes. Drink enough water each day. Limit soda, juice, and sweets. Avoid packaged, processed foods as much as possible.

When the munchies strike: Drink 16 oz water. Brush teeth. Take a 10-min walk. Blog or post on Spark People. Clean something.

Hope your cold is better and you can get caught up. The catch-up game is part of life unfortunately, blame entropy lol. Me too, best wishes with your week.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I added links to my old Needle Peak blogs because all together they show the whole hike. I love that hike.
Lots of hiking lately. This week we have company and next week I am going on a 5 day hike with 3 others, I havn't done that long a hike before, the food planning will be interesting, all the planning is important when out for that long. We will need lots of stuff for eating, sleeping and hiking and we will be trying to keep our packs as light as possible and we hope not to forget anything crucial.
