Update:

Spark people take three! February 2007 I had broken the 200lb mark for the first time in years and was flying high. Between then and now we learned our then infant daughter was deaf and had cerebral palsy, I started a masters degree in special education and we added two more sons to our family and I took over the executive position of the non-profit educational institution I work for. Needless to say that some things had to be put on the back burner and my diet and exercise routines were among them.

I finally feel like my head is clearing the surface and I can focus on me again, so here goes nothing. Well... here goes 60lbs to be precise. I will do it this time... just watch me. It's (back) on!!! :)

Old News:
Well, I'm back. Hopefully for good this time. It's been an interesting year for our family with some unexpected ups and downs. Unfortunately my weight is one of the "ups". Looking to turn things around by Christmas.

Highlights:

Feb. 19th 2007 - Bench pressed my weight (205 lbs) five reps

Mar. 14th 2007 - 12 minute run distance - 2814 meters (finally "excellent" as per national average)

Mar. 20th 2007 - Cut my 500 meter swim time to 9m11sec

Mar. 21st 2007 - Wore the suit I got married in (didn't even need to use the shoe-horn to get into it!!!)

Mar. 24th 2007 - U of A Indoor Sprint Triathlon
500 meter swim time - 10m13s
20 Km bike time - 41m17s
5 Km run time - 24m14s
Total time w/ transitions - 1h17m51s

I see a lot of similarity in our stories. I also lost a lot of weight (from 280 down to 207), then gained most of it back. I didn't pass the mythical 200 mark the first time, but I didn't really change my habits. So when I stopped, I went back to the same old things that got me into the weight to begin with.

I also have two beautiful daughters, one with severe disabilities (cognitive and physical). So I understand the extra challenges (and rewards) that brings with it. I wish you great success, and I will check in on you from time to time.

My son has CP and my daughter has FASD. We adopted her when she was five months old. People say we must have been bored because our son is almost ready for college. Nah! We just wanted a girl to complete the family.

Have you borrowed from your local library (or bought) Signing Time Videos? Since your wee one is only 4, she AND the rest of the family would love these. Places to buy would be: SigningTime.com, half.com or buyasl.com
Buy ASL offers cheaper discounts than Signing Time, but Signing Time sometimes offers great deals. Half.com has new and used items, but like the name implies, they are usually half price.
