At It Again

My Motivation:
Pregnancy puts a huge toll on my body. I've gained 40-50lbs each time and it doesn't come off because of breastfeeding. In fact, in my first pregnancy, it didn't even start to budge until I was done nursing. As soon as I started to finally lose some weight with my first pregnancy I got pregnant with my second child. It set me back to almost my heighest weight that I had worked so hard to slowly get off in the years before children. The weight gain is a real bummer but ...
The weight gain is a real bummer but having the second child is more the reason to get back into a healthy lifestyle. I want to lose 100 pounds, gain energy and confidence and be a positive example of excellent health for my little boy and littler girl.

My Inspiration:
I lost my big brother last June, 2012. He was morbidly obese as a teenager and 10 years ago he had gastric bypass surgery performed by top doctors in the country at UPenn. He lost all his weight seemingly effortlessly, he toned up, became super athletic and gained knowledge on all things nutrition. The one thing that I noticed most about him was his consistency. He would come home from vacation and while my family sat around eating he made sure to go on his afternoon 9 mile run, rain or shine. Eventually, he started getting sick. He would stick to his nutrition and workouts as consistently as possible until it all dwindled down and he couldn't eat anything and his 9 mile runs turned into very short walks. The surgery that saved his life eventually took his life far too early.

My plan:
I have lost lots of weight in my life and I usually use sparkpeople to do it. No matter what meals or workouts I try the number one biggest key to getting anywhere in healthy weightloss, for me, is consistently challenging myself. Due to a horrible lower back and acheyness that only got worse with workingout during my last pregnancy I had quite a lazy pregnancy (plus, it was winter and I hate cold). So, I lost a lot of the momentum I built up while workout before I got pregnant. I would put myself in the beginner phase again. I am going to start off slowly with walking, short bursts of workouts, and light weights and as I meet goals and work my way away from the postnatal phase I will push myself a little further. Trying new things to keep it all interesting while involving my children whenever I can.

The biggest challenges:
Money and time. We are very low budget for one year while my husband is in class. So, no gym memberships or large home equipment purchases and will have to learn how to incorporate organic/whole foods into our meals. And time is an issue because, well, I'm home with a toddler and a newborn. It has taken me all morning just to write this introduction because of the interruptions. Schedules will change constantly.

Hi and welcome to the Mommy to Wowwy forum. I have 2 boys myself, but they're 19 and 17 now. You asked for suggestions? Keep those tissues handy at diaper change time! LOL! Ok, health-related ones are watch your broccoli, onions and other gas-producing foods while nursing, and pop cute little Oliver into his stroller and walk! As much as you can. Also, have a look through the fitness tracker and search for ST exercises you can do to rev up your metabolism. Your metabolism is higher than normal while nursing, so take full advantage of every benefit you can, and get nursing, cardio and ST, along with sensible eating, to do the job for you. emoticon
