I am a 60+ year old pediatrician who has an autoimmune disease called Sjogren Syndrome as well as mild sleep apnea. I have been with Spark People over three years. My sleep apnea continues. I am now on BiPAP. My pulmonologist feels I will always be on BiPAP despite the weight loss. I reached my goal weight but due to stress and back problems, I regained some of the weight. I am exercising more now and the weight is coming off again.

I have retired, greatly reducing my stress level. With the decreased stress I am feeling better. I still have my ups and downs with my Sjogren's Syndrome, but the downs don't seem as severe. I feel like a fat person inside a thinner body and adjusting to being thinner is a challenge. However, it is a nice challenge. I am able to exercise a minimum of 5 days a week, my dog and I walk almost daily. It is hard to look at her face and see the disappointment of not walking!

PLEDGES

Today I promise I will not quit. I pledge that no matter how many ups and downs I pass through, I will continue on my journey. I pledge to make a NEW START today ,and forgive myself for my past, and to stop being so critical of myself, to stop making excuses, and stop blaming other people or situations. I pledge to treat myself as I would my Best Friend, because that is who I am. I pledge to stay in the race and to be a WINNER!

My Goals:
My goals are to continue changing my lifestyle.


My Program:
I had reached my goal but had some bad months, now I am back to needing to lose weight again. I have kept off most of what I have lost but need to lose some weight again. I am working on increasing my exercise and redeveloping the excellent eating habits I once had. I am 100 lbs from my highest ever weight, so I have done fairly well keeping most of the weight off.



Personal Information:
I am from Ogden, Utah. I live on the side of the mountain with a wonderful view of the Salt Lake Valley. I am a HUGE Utah Jazz fan. I am also a huge fan of the University of Utah Football and Basketball teams. I also love the theater and travel. I am a good amateur photographer. I spent a wonderful three weeks in South Africa in Aug-Sept 2007. I am now taking writing classes in preparation of writing a memoir.
