Preventative maintenance

I'm getting older, 25 in November, and I'm beginning to see habits in me that I don't like. Slowly extra pounds are beginning to find their ways to my hips. I'm not overweight, but why wait until then?

I'm a registered dietitian, and it's time I start applying those principles that I teach to myself.

My Goals:
I am a newly certified registered dietitian. I've just ventured out into the "real" world looking for my first grown up job. In the midst of this stress, I'm doing my best to find ways to stay healthy while at home.

My Program:
I try to incorporate fresh fruits, vegetables, nonfat dairy, and whole grains where ever possible in my diet. I hope to make lunch and supper more consistent by incorporating a meat, non-starchy vegetable, and grain onto my plate. Little by little I hope to eliminate as much of the snack food in my home as I can without causing my husband and in-laws to revolt.

To keep active I use YouTube videos . These not only get me moving, but they prevent me from getting bored. It's hard to get bored when each video is only ten minutes!

Personal Information:
Whitney M. Kitchell, RD

Other Information:
I've always been a small town girl who enjoyed down-to-earth cooking. My hope is to continue cooking meals like that, but with healthier ingredients. My grandma always told me, "A meal isn't a meal unless there are at least three things on the plate." Thank goodness she believed that!
