Iíve needed to update my Sparkpage for a while now, but Iíve been unsure of where to start and what to say. Iíve needed to update my Sparkpage for a while now, but Iíve been unsure of where to start and what to say. At the beginning of each new year I recommit to losing the few pounds Iíve put on but I never seem to get anywhere. Earlier this year for the first time I started wearing jeans to work. My work place is pretty casual but I feel that Iím more productive and act more professional when Iím dressed nicer. Jeans make me feel lazy, like itís the weekend. But despite all that, I started wear jeans. I started wear jeans, not because I wanted to, but because I was too fat to fit into my dress pants and some of my tops were kind of binding.
When I started this job a little over 3 years ago, I was 135 pounds and I ran 3 times a week and walked my dogs. I was active. But as I made friends at this job and things started getting stressful, I quit running and was going out to eat with coworkers. By December of 2010, I was about 150+ pounds. Not sure how plus because I stopped weighing myself but I realized that I was in trouble when my size 8 pants were to tight wear and the size 4ís Iíd been wearing at the beginning of this job were no longer even a thoughtÖt00 small by a long shot. I even had to buy bigger jeans.
In March of this year I realized I was wearing jeans and t-shirts to work every day. And jeans and t-shirts on the weekends too because that was the only thing I had that fit. Really not good. On Tuesday, March 8th, Iíd had enough. This was just silly, after all I am the same girl (older and wiser) that lost 80 pounds in my 20ís. I know how to be fit and healthy. I know how to lose weight in a safe and timely manner. I have Sparkpeople. Trust me, I got this.
So here I am 4 months later. Iím down to 145 pounds at my last weigh in. Iíve run a 5k for fun. Iím on the verge of completing my Couch to 5k training and beginning my Bridge to 10k training. I run three or 4 days a week, sometimes more, for fun, for the challenge of it, for my own enjoyment (sickÖI know). Iíve signed up to run the 9/11 Memorial 5k this September and Iím actually looking forward to it. I hope to beat my PR of 33:432.4 from my last 5k. Iím back into my old work clothes and nothing is tight or binding. But more importantly Iím looking ahead to my future goals.
For the future, because goals are important and keep us moving forward, I have a few thoughts. Of course I have the Bridge to 10k training coming up. And I have my 5k in September but long term goalsÖIím thinking Half Marathon training. Iím thinking Rock and Roll in Vegas this December or possibly the California International Marathon (the half) which is right here in Sacramento. This goal really depends on whether or not we are going to be on vacation in Hawaii or not. Speaking of Hawaii, thatís another goal. I want to feel sexy and confident in a bikini in Hawaii this year. I also want to change jobs or at least learn to deal with my work stress better and my running is key for dealing with stress.
Will I ever be 135 pounds again? I donít think so. I honestly think that while still a healthy BMI weight, I didnít look too good. And I remember being hungry and tired a lot back then. Now I want to be fit. If that means weighing 150, fine by me. What I weigh isnít that important to me. I still want to lose weight but I want it to be fat that goes. I want lean muscle mass that burns calories for me even when Iím sitting still. I want sexy, strong legs that make me feel good. My goal is to be 140 and lean before Hawaii.
Right now, Iím feeling really jazzed to see where I am at the end of the year. So far 2011 has been really stressful and crazy but my outlook is positive. I can do this. I can accomplish it all. Mind over matter.
I realized at the end of 2009 that I was in the exact same place I was a year ago. I recomitted for 2010 to get those 15 pounds that I had gained back off. I'm ready for this challenge.
Between changing my job and Hubby going to swing shift in July, I slipped off my program. I gained over 15 pounds and did not follow through on my weekly weigh in. Got on the scale for the first time in quite some time as part of my office's Biggest Loser program to find that in just a few months I went from 133 to 150. I was total shocked but thankfully with Sparkpeople I have the tools to take that weight back off. On November 10th I weighed 150.6. I've been pretty mad at myself for re-gaining this weight but I'm channeling that anger into exercise. I've been walking my dogs almost everyday for the over three weeks and now they've started to expect it. If I sit down when I get home from work Dixie will just stare at me with her ears all perked up, looking expectant. It's so cute that I get up and go. How can I say no to her?! What's funny too is when I've already walked them earlier in the day and about 6pm (when I normally would be getting home from work) they will come to me and expect to be walked again. These dogs don't cut me any slack; they're better then personal trainers!
Currently I've met my weight goal even though I tend to go up and down as much as 3 to 4 pounds at any given time. My goal now is to meet my new fitness goals. I want to be able to run a 10K in under an hour. I want to lift weights and work on my upper body strength.
Hi, my name is Lisa and I'm 31 years old. I live in Northern California with my husband, 2 dogs, a cat and a guinea pig.
I never had a problem with my weight until I was in my mid 20's. At that time I developed chronic fatigue. After a visit to my doctor, I found myself in a position where I was advised to lose weight before they would attempt to fix the chronic fatigue with medication.
I came home from the doctor more confused then anything. My mother recommended that I try Weight Watchers as she had had success with program in the past. I did not want to attend meetings as I had a huge case of denial and felt that those meetings were for "fat" people. At 209 pounds I qualified.
Over the last five years I have gone from unhealthy weight of 209 pounds to an equally unhealthy weight of 125 pounds and back up to 180 pounds prior to my wedding. In December of 2005 I recommitted to my health and was determined to lose 30 pound before my wedding. Amazingly, I managed to lose those 30 pounds and weighed in at 150 pounds on my wedding day.
Since my wedding I have been working on reaching my personal goal of 139 pounds. It took me almost a whole year to lose that last 11 pounds but I finally managed to reach it in April. My goal now is to be healthy and fit. I want to make sure that I am here for many years to come.
