I am 54 years old and handicapped. I have fallen apart since being hit by a car 6 years ago. My weight ballooned to 397lbs, of which I've lost 30lbs in the past two months. I have out of control diabetes, high blood pressure and other health problems. I am tired of being a blob. I am trying to do the seated aerobics. It will get better. I need all the motivation and camaraderie that I can get. I am using the trackers and following the Diabetic Program.

My Goals:
My first goal is to lose enough weight to have my bilateral knee replacement surgery. I want to be able to walk again and all that that entails. I want to be able to go out door to door in my ministry. I want to get down to 125 pounds, as that is the mid range of what I should weigh for my height. I want to ride a bike again, without having to purchase a special bike to carry this mass. I want to ski again. I want to ride a roller coaster. I want to be able to fit into the seats at a theater and be comfortable. I want to live a normal life and be healthy, I am hoping to get off insulin and medications for blood pressure. I am hoping for a good life.

My Program:
I am following the diabetic program set out for me by SparkPeople. I currently do resistance work and will add aerobic exercises as I lose weight. I am confined to a wheelchair and cannot even do the exercises in my wheelchair as I am too big and become out of breath.

Personal Information:
I am from Newberry, South Carolina.

Other Information:
I am a Jehovah's Witness.

Well Good Morning Wendy!
We have a lot in common minus the car accident. The damage done to me wasn't an accident, just un-noticed self destruction in action....

Hi And Welcome to the Team INDYGIRL,
You have picked an awesome team to become a member of..... Beth (INDYGIRL) has so very much to share and so much knowledge from her own personal battle with weight loss and health issues.
The team at large is very supportive and encouraging and always willing to share what they have learned, heard, or lived through....... Dive in, post, ask questions, and support others so they can support you as well!
Welcome to the team and WE are all so glad you joined!

Debbie / NEWTEXDEBBIE/ Co-Leader of INDYGIRL Team

Dear Wendy ,

emoticon emoticon emoticon you are in the right place. There are many ladies on this sight who started or are still in a wheel chair and are doing great things. I belong to team ~indygirl She has lost 250 and started in a wheel chair .. in the pull down tab of the community go to SparkTeams and do a search you will find others like you to offer support, encouragement and a kick you know where when you need it.

Set some small goals like drinking more water or less soda. Eat one more serving of veggies.. You don't have to do it all today or learn it all today.but sticking with it is what makes you successful.

Once again Welcome and you will find what you need here. .. emoticon
