One of the rare photos of me in the last 10 years. Normally, I avoid cameras like the plague!

Family photo from Fall 2012. This was the first time I really realized how big I'd gotten.

My beautiful family! Fall '12

Welcome to my world!

Hello! I have had accounts with Spark People before, but I have never really made myself stick with the program. I am over 30 now, though (!) and I have to be more serious about my health. I am heavier now than I have ever been, and there's no sign of it getting better. I am a stay-at-home mom of 2 little girls (9 and 2). I homeschool, so my life truly revolves around my family, and like most moms I am at the very bottom of my priority list. I get almost no physical activity on a daily basis. ...
We try to take walks as a family, but living in the Midwest, we have pretty uncooperative weather...a lot! Either too hot, too cold or too wet! I have an entire collection of workout DVD's collecting dust: Zumba, TurboJam, Sweatin' to the Oldies...

Until now, I thought my weight was only affecting myself...however, I am learning that is not true. I have NO energy, EVER! I don't play with my 2 year old the way I did with my 9 year old. I don't DO things with them, I watch THEM do things. Also, my 9 year old (who has always been at the bottom of the weight chart) was at the top of the weight chart at her last check-up and the doctor had 'The Talk' with me about it! I have never felt like more of a failure in my life!

So, I am ready to change! I know myself though, I get all gung-ho about something and burn out fast. I have to go slow and steady this time around. I HAVE to make it work this time. I am going to start by tracking all of my food, no matter how bad it is! I hope that actually SEEING what I am putting in my body will be a wake-up call for me. Also, I am going to add physical activity in. Something every single day, no matter how little.

I also know that unless I am held accountable, I am unlikely to continue. So, please, whoever happens to be reading this...hold me accountable. I am counting on YOU!
