I Just Wanna Be Okay...

I struggled with my weight all my life, then took off over 100 lbs. in my 20s on the SB diet. I kept it off for 8 years, then had sudden weight gain due to hypothyroid and PCOS, without any change in my diet or activity. My low carb lifestyle is not taking off the hormone weight, but I'm not ready to accept defeat; I was happy in my skin when I was thinner. My low carb lifestyle is not taking off the hormone weight, but I'm not ready to accept defeat; I was happy in my skin when I was thinner. So I'm making a few changes based on what I've been reading about the ketogenic (low carb high fat) lifestyle. I'm looking forward to butter and sour cream again, and hoping the fat makes the difference. My mama is coming along for the trip this time, and I'm hoping we can succeed together--for our health and happiness.

My Goals:
I work as an RN on the graveyard shift, and fitting healthy eating and exercise habits around 12-hour night shifts has been a real challenge. So right now I'm trying different things to see what works.

My Program:
The low carb lifestyle has been good to me, and helped me maintain a healthy weight for years with little effort. Sudden gain from PCOS and hypothyroid crept up in spite of eating low carb, and has been hard to lose. After lots of doubt, confusion, and research, I'm giving the ketogenic approach a try--adding more fats into my low carb life. I'm hoping the LCHF lifestyle will be what I need to shake things up and get me back to my former healthy weight.

I just read your comments/advise on one of the boards. I am a Medical Lab Tech and tomorrow night I will be starting the dreaded 7on-7off night shift. I have been working 2nd shift for over a year. Your comments were exactly what I was looking for, right down to the thyroid medication. I am a 62 yr old with HTN and pre diabetes so I have to loose this weight!!! So....thanks for the ideas and motivation. emoticon

"BEAUTIFUL WOMAN AWARD"

You are the recipient of the Beautiful Woman Award!!

Once you've been given this award, you have to paste it on the page of 8 women who deserve it. If you receive more than 3, you know you're really beautiful! If you break the chain, nothing will happen, but it's always good to know someone thinks you're beautiful inside and out!

Again, Congratulations Beautiful! Hugs!

Hope you have a good weekend at the hospital. This weekend is my first off in about two weeks. The important thing is not to lose hope - you will be able to do this. Here's hoping the Metformin help.
