One Step Forward and Two Steps Back

This is my forward step. I had lost 75 pounds, maintained for a year, and then gained 10 pounds. This last school year 2010-2011, I've gained another 25 pounds. Yes, it is discouraging. I injured my knee and haven't been able to exercise like before, but I'm working at establishing new, healthy habits again. I continued to eat healthy meals, but added many unhealthy snacks each day. There's no mystery - exercise less + eat more = weight gain.

Original goals: I am working on making this a lifestyle change and not a diet. I know that I need to make healthy choices for the rest of my life. If I revert back to my old ways, the weight will just come back.

I have made a commitment to exercise everyday. Since March 08 I've done some kind of weight training 3x week and walked the other four days. I'm beginning to look for ways to add exercise to my social life, such as walking and hiking with girlfriends instead of meeting for lunch.

While my commitment is strong and my motivation is high now, I worry about keeping up with the changes I've made. For now it's one day at a time.

My Goals:
To lose the weight I gained.

I've been on this weight loss journey since June 07. I lost 75 pounds, but gained half of it back.

My Program:
Cardio 5x week. Begin with 30 min and work up to 45.
Weight lifting 2x week.
To make gradual increases as my strength and endurance improves.
Log food everyday.



Personal Information:
I have two wonderful adult children that I enjoy spending time with. I am a teacher and love it. I've been married for 28 years and we like to hike and kayak here in the beautiful Northwest.

Love your new profile pic in the kayak - it looks like such fun! Hope you're feeling motivated and are easing back into your healthy routine. I'm back at it myself after gaining back my weight. Never say die!

Glad to see you here again although I know how upsetting it must be to have regained some weight. Today's the day!! It's the only one we have so make it work for you!
I had a couple of injuries last year - it drove me crazy to have to eat so little while I couldn't exercise LOL - it's no wonder we regain!! Hang in there.

Hey from Maple Valley! I saw your post on the Washington state forum. There are a few of us in the Covington/Maple Valley area that get together once in awhile for walks. We created an SP Forum to stay in touch: http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_

I live on the Elk Run golf course and June lives on the Lake Wildreness golf course. There's a nice path around Lake Wilderness. If you want to get together let me know!
