Still in great shape, but a little rounder than I should be... After a year and a half of excuses following a motorcycle accident (I got hit by a truck on the way to work), it's time to shed the pounds I picked up while I was under forced inactivity. I also hope to get myself ready to race my bicycle in the spring.
Thanks to a little encouragement from my Sparkfriends, I not only completed the MS 150 Bike Ride May 5th & 6th 2007 from Frisco, TX to Fort Worth, TX, I excelled and had a fantastic time! Hard to believe for someone who was a smoker and 100 pounds overweight in March of 2006...
I'm so much healthier and happier than I was before! I'm so much more motivated and have tremendous amounts of energy. Before I joined SparkPeople, I'd been packing on pounds and inches since 1997, and it was finally time to do something about it. Now I have.
My ticker shows an end goal of 180... and I plan to get there, but I'm not in a rush. I've reached a level of fitness and a body condition that I'm honestly very happy with. The weight actually came off so fast and consistently I'm now waiting for my skin to catch up a bit.
My new goals:
I will continue making healthy choices for eating, living, and exercise.
I will increase my cruising speed on my bicycle to 18.5 mph.
My original goals:
I want to fit comfortably in my Miata (I do)... I want to look stunning in tight button-fly bluejeans (She says I do!). I want ridiculously sexy legs (Got two!)
I'm going to eat healthier, and spend more time outdoors playing with my dog. I'm going to make sure I get at least an hour of cardio time every day that I can - and certainly no fewer than 4 days a week.
That's the goal... Since February, I've spent 8-12 hours per week on my bicycle, burning upwards of 8,000 calories per week. In conjunction with strict calorie monitoring, I lost over 60 pounds in the 6 months leading up to 6/1/2007.
I'm Lauren in Plano, Texas. 39 years old and I DID SOMETHING about being overweight. Thanks, SparkPeople.

I am SO GLAD to see you back on the 1 Day Challenge group! How have you been? I'm so glad to see that you are riding still. You are such an inspiration to me and sooooo many on Spark. I am training for 3 halves and 2 marathons between now and the end of Feb. 2009. WE BOTH CAN DO IT!!!
