Thinnking...

I remember well when I hit those mid-life years and I put on a few pounds and my 20 minutes riding the stationary bike was no longer sufficient to shed that extra weight. Unfortunatley, this also happened at a time when I worked a desk job with weekly overtime.

I remember well when I hit those mid-life years and I put on a few pounds and my 20 minutes riding the stationary bike was no longer sufficient to shed that extra weight. Unfortunatley, this also happened at a time when I worked a desk job with weekly overtime.

The stress of those years was high, in addition to the job I had two children that needed to be tended to and carpooled before and after school. Many of our meals ended up being highly processed because it was so easy to just heat something up.

Money was also tight and so I used coupons a lot. Only one time, I stocked up on a whole bunch of "good deals" only to realize that I did not normally eat that stuff. It was a reality lesson learned that even with the cents off if I don't normally eat that then I do not save money.

My aha moment was when I went to a Culinary Arts program and we had to do weekly research paper in the Nutrition class. It was at that time I came to realization that I could not trust the information that we had for what a "healthy" diet is. I also watched 75% of my classmates gain weight as the course progressed and realized I could not cook that way if I want to be healthy.

Then I read the China Study, Eat To Live, The McDougall Program. I think I am now seeing the light as to what I need to eat in order to be healthy. I hope you will join me on my journey here at SparkPeople.com

Oh, boy, can I relate to your crazy candy story. I recently told someone that cake (but insert candy, cookies, cupcakes in place of cake and it's the same thing) "makes me lose my damn mind". Bear in mind, I am disciplined about exercise, don't gamble, drink,, smoke, shop excessively or use/abuse drugs, am disciplined about keeping my house tidy, etc. - in other words, I have a lot of good habits but FOOD, specifically sugary, floury foods, are my downfall. I am currently seeing a therapist to unravel some of this craziness. It will be a sloooow process, but I am bound and determined to gain some freedom from this ridiculous struggle. At least we aren't compulsive eaters AND sedentary. As my doctor says to me: "your numbers for blood pressure, resting heart rate, and many other things are perfect - the only bad numbers are your thyroid function and your weight." I told someone I should get her words printed on a t-shirt emoticon

Hi!
It was the Force they recalled, not the Flex. They'd lose 50% of their business if they recalled Flex.

I only had a minor issue. It is due to the plastic and sweating, I think.

I really want a Force so I hope they bring it back someday. I haven't worn out my Flex yet.

Thanks for your comment. I eat a lot of veggies and fruit, but that doesn't help tame this mega sweet tooth. I have started meticulous tracking again, which I find time consuming, but it is the only thing that works for me.
