I wrote this in August 2006 when I joined Sparkpeople - what an AWESOME day that was =D
"I found the perfect place to help me finally figure out how to be my healthiest self! I have been a work in progress for four years now already having started and maintained an exercise habit all of that time. In 1999, I was diagnosed with SLE (Lupus) and Fibromyalgia. Medicines and an incomplete understanding of portion size and calories has made my weight battle more difficult over the past few years. Sparkpeople is definitely making the difference for me. I truly hope that my before picture is the last time I will be that size as the weight really hurts my joints all the more!! I am the picture of motivation :)"
Update: Have I mentioned lately how much I adore Sparkpeople =) I credit SP with helping me prepare for and enjoy one of the most special days of my life. On May 27, 2008, I married my wonderful husband again in a vow renewal ceremony at EPCOT, Walt Disney World in front of all my family and friends. I even had the courage to sing him a love song in front of everyone. Before SP, I strongly doubt my confidence would ever have allowed me to do this!!!!!
UPDATE: I first dreamed of running long distances about 18 years ago and knee problems curtailed my dreams then. Years later, after finding SP =), I started dreaming again!!! I am so proud to report that as of January 12, I have completed my first half-marathon race - WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have gone on to participate in three half marathons this year and a 15K.
***DRUMROLL***I have signed up for the Disney Full Marathon! It will happen on Jan 11, 2009 =) I am so excited and a little nervous... With the support I find here on this site, I expect to accomplish this goal too!!I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT AN AWESOME DAY!

I will complete a half marathon at Disney World on Jan 12, 2008!! I DID IT - YESSSSS!!!!!!
I will complete my first full marathon on Jan 11, 2009! Update: DONE and it was sooo fun!!!!!!
I will train hard for and complete the Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge at Walt Disney World on Jan 9th and 10th, 2010. If you are curious about this goal, google the race name and find out =) WOW, I DID IT!!!!!!!!!! What goal will be next!?
I am somewhat carb sensitive so I am eating moderate carbs but also learning portions and tracking calories to be in my SP range :)
I work out six days per week. On the seventh day, I REST. Rest is underrated and we all need it! All you Type A Sparkers need it too =)
I do at least 5 hours of cardio and one hour of strengthening exercises!! I have a home gym where I do most of my workouts. I have a recumbent bike and a treadmill that get used all the time. I also have free weights, exercise bands, ankle weights, a yoga mat and a fitness ball to get my strengthening done!
Since I became an endurance runner, I do my long runs each weekend outside and that is probably my favorite workout of the week too!
I am 49 yrs old and I am 5'7.5" (I keep having to add years to my age here, LOL)
I am from the Magic City in Alabama :) I grew up a military brat with southern roots though! I am a mortgage loan officer and happily married for the past ELEVEN years! I have two great teenage boys, 20 and 17! Wow, what a ride this life is!
I love to read and I love baking! I study cookbooks to see how to bake healthier like using whole grains and healthier sugars in my cooking. Instead of overeating, I watch the Food Network while working out :)
