Reclaiming my body-2013 edition

UPDATE 2013- Almost a year since I had my son and I still haven't managed to get my act together. I had some starts and stops in 2012 and ended the year back where I started weight wise. Not giving up though and going for it again in 2013.

I'm looking to regain the fitness level I had before marriage and motherhood took it's toll.

I've struggled with my weight my entire adult life. I come by it honestly as my mother is morbidly obese. It is one family trait that I am hoping not to pass on to my daughter(s). I have not, however, always been overweight.

Back in 2002, in a effort to get healthy before turning 30, I lost weight and developed a passion for running. Over the next 5 years, I maintained that healthy weight and ran many races including a marathon.

Then in 2008, I got engaged and started living with my now husband and his son. Suddenly the method I had used to stay on track, no diet un-friendly food in the house, wasn't an option. Add to that, cutting way back on running due to having less time available and the pounds came on quickly.

In early 2009, I got pregnant and my weight just went to h3ll in a hand basket from there.

Today I am obese. But I am finally ready. With the help of the C25K program, I am regaining the confidence that I can run and with running comes the motivation to eat well and get my body into shape.

My ticker is just a fragment of the weight I need to lose. This just gets me to a BMI of less than 30 aka no longer obese. That is major goal #1.

My goals are broken down as follows.

230 starting weight-1/12/11
10 lbs- Jump start- 3/14/11
21 lbs- no longer obese - 5/19/11
30 lbs -pre-baby weight
56 lbs- no longer fat
70 lbs-Healthy weight

I don't have any time frames or goals. I just hope to make steady progress whether it happens quickly or slowly.

I live in Maryland with my husband, 3 year old daughter, 13 month old son and 13 y/0 stepson. I have a full time job and a long commute. Southern born and southern bred.

Thanks for your kind comment on my blog post. I just had to put it all out there. I honestly think it's one of the best blogs I've ever written. From the heart ya know? This may not get easier but hopefully will become more of a habit. As long as I don't let my sabatur (husband) derail me into giving up again!
