Mission Possible: Reclaimed Health

I'm Missy, a 50 year old mother of four, grandmother of one, with two kids still at home (12 and 17). I'm from the New Orleans area. A common greeting here is, "Where ya at?" Native New Orleanians are often, therefore, called Yats. I usually use the nickname NOLady, for New Orleans Lady, but that conjures up all kinds of questions. lol I have worked at home for the last 20 years as a transcriber for court reporters, physicians, and others. That means I've sat in front of a computer ...

I usually use the nickname NOLady, for New Orleans Lady, but that conjures up all kinds of questions. lol I have worked at home for the last 20 years as a transcriber for court reporters, physicians, and others. That means I've sat in front of a computer monitor for untold hours at a time and grown fatter and fatter, eventually being a slug who never moved and then a slug who COULDN'T move. At my biggest, I became insulin resistent and put an extra 100+ pounds on my already very overweight body. No more! I've lost 65 pounds so far and still have a lot yet to lose. *PHEW* That sounds impossible, doesn't it? It's not. It IS possible! I'm making baby step goals for myself, one week at a time, and so far, I'm attaining them! I'm excited about the new me emerging as the rubble of a lifetime of bad habits is cleared away. The folks here at SparkPeople have been so encouraging and compassionate, and I'm delighted to have found this place!

My Goals:
To become healthier and more energetic.

My Program:
My program has changed! SO much. It's all good!! Now I stay within the guidelines SP has set for my calories, carbs, fat, and protein when I can. More often than not I can't quite get all the calories or fat in, but I get close. Balance is such a wonderful world!! It's one of the finest things SP is teaching me. What hope there is!!!

I attend water aerobics three to five times a week and add a session or two of low-impact aerobics in to boost things a bit when I can.
