Slowly but Surely

I joined SP in May of 2011 to get out of a rut of poor food choices and too little exercise (resulting in a slow but steady weight gain of about 10-15 pounds over several years). I am Catholic, and realized that I was not treating my body as a temple of the Holy Spirit. I don't want to become obsessive about the numbers on my scale or clothing tags, but I do want to be a good steward of this body God has given me.

I lost about 15 pounds between May and December of 2011, and then lost my motivation, and gained around 5 of it back. By October 2013 I was within a few pounds of my goal weight, and then got pregnant! So for now I'm trying to have a healthy pregnancy, and worry about my goal weight after that. My lifetime goal is to stay around my final weight, but more importantly, to make sure I get good nutrition and an adequate amount of exercise each day. I still struggle a great deal with choosing healthy foods over junk food, and that's definitely something I need to overcome. Though since I got pregnant, I haven't been craving sweets like I used to. I hope this stays with me!

Wow, it's a brand new day. One that has miracles for us, joy for us, new adventure, knowledge for our taking, and numerous messages and proof of how much we are loved. I hope that you can embrace and discover all that this day has in store just for you.

There is nothing that we can give to the Lord to repay His goodness and mercy but we can give offering of praise to show our gratitude.

I never truly understood how much my mother touched other peoples' lives by the messages she sent them or the cards until she left this world. Everyday she would write someone or send a card. She has been gone for 17 years, yet a month does not go by that some stranger comes up to me and ask me if I am my mother's daughter (I look so much like her). Than I am told what a blessing she was in their life.

Wow, what a beauty legacy she left--the gift of love by helping others wither her kindness and words.

I pray that I can, like her, be a blessing to others. This quote reminds me of my mother: The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others.- Albert Schweitzer

WooHoo, it's Friday; the perfect day to start liking your how you look! It really does not matter what size you are. So please stop listening to the media telling you that you have to be a size 0. Your dress size does determine who you are. Do not let them take the joy out of your life. What they tell you and say is not the truth. They have a hidden agenda which does not care about anyone but their wallet. Yet, we give the media so much power. It's time stop.

Now is the time to be happy with how you look. After all, you are God's masterpiece--100% made by Him. Now how can you NOT be beautiful? How can you NOT like how you look? God does not make anything unattractive.

I want you to know that you really are beautiful. You brighten my day and make me feel that I am special. Your inner beauty touches my life and I am so much better because of it. This my friend is what real beauty is, not a being a size 0.

A loving heart is beautiful to everyone. It does not fade in beauty, it is always admired and enjoyed. We spend so much time concerning our selves with our outer appearance. But our inner appearance is what is most important. It covers all wrinkles, aging spots and any imperfections you see. No lotions, creams, make-up or plastic surgery can make you as beautiful as a loving heart can.

I think your heart is beautiful!
