Slowly but Surely

I joined SP in May of 2011 to get out of a rut of poor food choices and too little exercise (resulting in a slow but steady weight gain of about 10-15 pounds over several years). I am Catholic, and realized that I was not treating my body as a temple of the Holy Spirit. I don't want to become obsessive about the numbers on my scale or clothing tags, but I do want to be a good steward of this body God has given me.

I lost about 15 pounds between May and December of 2011, and then ...

I lost about 15 pounds between May and December of 2011, and then lost my motivation, and gained around 5 of it back. By October 2013 I was within a few pounds of my goal weight, and then got pregnant! So for now I'm trying to have a healthy pregnancy, and worry about my goal weight after that. My lifetime goal is to stay around my final weight, but more importantly, to make sure I get good nutrition and an adequate amount of exercise each day. I still struggle a great deal with choosing healthy foods over junk food, and that's definitely something I need to overcome. Though since I got pregnant, I haven't been craving sweets like I used to. I hope this stays with me!

Wow, it's a brand new day, that is a gift given to you, a gift to enjoy and discover exactly what special miracles are in it just for you.

Oh, you get so caught up in all the attitude and mind set around us, that you do not see the real beauty that around in each day. We live in a country were we have freedom. I've been in several countries where I had to be very careful and aware of everything I did. I soon realized how great it was back home with true freedom. I am especially joyful because I can walk again. It may not be as well as I could before, but I can walk, just no running this time. And to have a mind that can figure out things, remember things and hold onto memories...wow, that is awesome.

Today I hope you take the time to see and discover all the special miracles that are in your day. You see, it's not about what we don't have, it's about what you do have. What is right there in front of you, all around you. Don't rob yourself of all the beauty in joy that is in today. Instead find it, embrace it and cherish it in your memories. Enjoy your special gift of today.

Well, it looks like I am getting better, however, still have to take it easy for awhile. All this is teaching me something, easy does it. Just moving and doing something each day will lead to a giant step forward. It took me a long time to get this fat. I won't get thinner in a few days. Yet, I will if I just keep at it, little by little.

No, I may not be able to do six hours of heavy cleaning, but I can do a 15 min. clean-up, a 27 Fling Boggie, get 2-3 loads of laundry done and do my chair exercises, and feel like a million. Now that's awesome when I think about it.

So you may not feel like doing much today, but you can do something and that something just might be awesome too. Today is amazing Monday--No Excuses Allowed. Today is a Perfect Day to Just Do What You Can and Feel Good.

Well I finally reached that point where I am sick and tired about looking I do and feeling like I do. This gave me the kick in the pants to start my 100 day get healthy project. Today I am on day 4!! My first two day I over did exercising and paid a price called pain. Today, I did much better and I watching my portion size, plus eating three meals daily, NOT drinking soda, also walking and dancing for exercise. It's only day four, but I can feel my stomach has gone down emoticon emoticon

The end of 2014 is here. This letter is a special "Thank You" for the support, encouragement and friendship you so willingly gave me. 2014 was not an easy year for me nor my family, however, you helped me weather the stormy times. There is a silver lining in every storm cloud, because going through those tough times allowed me to see just how important you are.

Very soon we will be welcoming in 2015, a brand new year and adventure, filled with the unknown. My prayer for you is, may you and your family be healthy, filled with joy and peace filled days. Please know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers during the new year because you hold a special place in my heart. Happy New Year my dear friend.
