Me in December 2008. This is what I call a full figure.

Off to a New Year's party (Dec. 31, 2008). Don't I look like a happy camper?

Yiche12's journey

On April 30, 2014, I celebrated five years on this journey. I did start out at 183.7 lbs in 2009 and am presently 161.26 lbs. Over the years, Spark People has helped me with the following:

- I have become more aware of the importance of eating well and leaving junk food out of my diet.
- Exercise has become a routine for me.
- The need to sleep a minimum of seven to eight hours a night.
- The importance of staying active online because I am positive that I ...

- The importance of staying active online because I am positive that I would have regained my weight if I had not continued on SP.
- The importance of food tracking on a daily basis.
- Soft drinks are no longer drunk in the household.
- Desserts are made for guests only and we don't miss it.
etc. (the list goes on)

Like many of you, I have had many ups and downs on this journey. I am presently overweight as per the BMI scale and I will continue my journey to reach my healthy weight.

The truth is that with the weight that I 'have' lost, I have found my self-esteem again and my willingness to continue this struggle. I even look forward to going out more and dressing up again because I can actually look better in the clothes that I have. That is a nice feeling... Truly, I do not want to go upwards again as I know what that feels like. Yes, with the weight on, I could still do a lot but my cholesterol was high and my BMI was on the obese side -- who's kidding who here?

I am 65 y.o. and never did envision myself being a heavy senior citizen. Looking at my December 2008 picture beside, it was obvious to me that it was time that I got myself moving again and by doing so, it has proven to be beneficial all-round.

My Program:
I am watching and marking down EVERYTHING that I eat. I am exercising on a regular basis. Initially, I had scheduled one day off and now I find myself doing something on that day too!!!

Personal Information:
Originally from Canada, I have resided in West Africa since 1975 (during my entire adult life). I do get a chance to go and visit my family frequently but miss them a lot. Thanks to my MagicJack, Viber, Talkatone, Skype, I can communicate even more now with everybody.

SO I did my BMR and got 1356 -- so that is what I need minimum, right? I get that--usually a bit more. Can't get any weight to drop, however--so just keep trying!

I love your intro, & pics.

Thank you for praying for Angi. 20 yrs ago people w/her prob had a 100% mortality rate. The last 5 yr study showed a 90% survival, & thrive rate. She is a smart, mischevious happy little girl who is determined to keep up with her older sisters.

thanks for the Goodie but I don't deserve for Aug! I've gotten off the beaten track and have not been logging my nutrition. I'm still keeping track of my exercise but I'm so discouraged. With the injury to my knee, I'm slow at everything, in a lot of pain, my glucose levels are high as are my fluid levels both I think from lack of effective exercise because of the knee. I haven't been as diligent in my food choices either. I've got to get back on track weighing, measuring, logging, etc.
