I'm a 45 year old mom of three children. I have been struggling with my weight since the birth of our first child and I am ready to make the changes I need to make it disappear forever!

I hurt my back 15 years ago and spent 8 long months in rehab learning to walk upright again...I am for the most part pain free regardless of what I was told it would be like...I still have back problems but have tried to not let it dictate what I can and can't do. I have recently been diagnosed with osteoarthritis and am learning how to deal with it.

I also was anorexic in my teens and early adulthood. Learning to eat properly has been hard and it has affected my ability to lose weight...I have to admit that even a short time ago I would go 5 days wihout eating just to fit into something...I have made HUGE strides in making sure I get my 1200-1500 calories a day. I know NOT to go under calories and I am fighting two battles as I go...the one that wants to get rid of my weight and the other that needs to have control over how...It feels good to know that I am losing weight properly...even if it is slow by many people's standards. I try not to let it get me down but instead look at how far I have come...as of today I am 15 pounds lighter than I started but it has been lost the RIGHT way...with healthy food, proper portions and excercise.

Just remember...if you say you CAN'T do it, you WILL fail...stay positive, ignore the nay sayers and stay focused...remember losing weight is more than dieting...it's a LIFESTYLE CHANGE! We will get there, together!

September 2017. I apologize for not being on here for over a year. I was fighting a different battle altogether. On May 20th, 2016 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It went into my lymph nodes and my bones. On Feb 2, 2017 after extreme chemo treatments and radiation a bone scan showed that I was in remission. My next exam in May showed that I am still in the clear. I battled with extreme weight gain just before diagnosis and managed to fight to keep my weight...who knew? But now that I am in remission, it's time to get healthy again. My weight dropped to the 180's but I have since gained back ten pounds. at first I was upset, until I realized it's muscle that I am gaining back. The pants are being pulled up more and my endurance is amazing! I have done 20 km hikes up mountains since I got the remission news! Nothing is impossible. I may have been put on hold, but I'm back and I'm aiming for healthy body versus weight loss this time...I am sure their will be weight loss but it isn't my focus. Being healthy and able to move is something I used to take for granted. No more!

    Hi Again!
Thanks for the message on my page. Unfortunately my hubby has health issues and doesn't work out, so I feel like I'm in this a bit on my own. It would be great to have a workout buddy. When it is summer, I play golf and walk the course, so it gets me outside and walking.

How do you juggle your book, knitting, and gardening hobbies with your workouts? Seems like there isn't enough time in the day.
