I'm a 41 year old mom of three children. I have been struggling with my weight since the birth of our first child and I am ready to make the changes I need to make it dissappear forever!


I hurt my back 11 years ago and spent 8 long months in rehab learning to walk upright again...I am for the most part pain free regardless of what I was told it would be like...I still have back problems but have tried to not let it dictate what I can and can't do. I have recently been diagnosed with osteoarthritis and am learning how to deal with it.

I also was anorexic in my teens and early adulthood. Learning to eat properly has been hard and it has affected my ability to lose weight...I have to admit that even a short time ago I would go 5 days wihout eating just to fit into something...I have made HUGE strides in making sure I get my 1200-1500 calories a day. I know NOT to go under calories and I am fighting two battles as I go...the one that wants to get rid of my weight and the other that needs to have control over how...It feels good to know that I am losing weight properly...even if it is slow by many people's standards. I try not to let it get me down but instead look at how far I have come...as of today I am 15 pounds lighter than I started but it has been lost the RIGHT way...with healthy food, proper portions and excercise.

Just remember...if you say you CAN'T do it, you WILL fail...stay positive, ignore the nay sayers and stay focused...remember losing weight is more than dieting...it's a LIFESTYLE CHANGE! We will get there, together!

January 2013 Am officially off all meds from my hospital stint from over Christmas 2010 until early January 2011. The only thing that may stop me now is my lungs...brain seems to be functioning at nearly normal and my doctor has stated that excersise may be the final step in being "normal" again. Yay! So excited but will be taking it slow to keep track of my health as I go but staying focused so that there is weight loss again. Thanks to the meds I am higher than I have ever been...but I have never shirked away from a challenge and I don't plan on stopping now.

My Goals:
Need to start drinking 8 glasses of water again.

Learning all I can about nutrition and excersise.

Getting on a treadmill without assistance from an inhaler or a mask.

Next goal is being able to run 5K.

My Program:
Starting slow....first step is learning what I am eating and how to track calories without a calculator.

Am doing light cardio.

Personal Information:
I'm 41 and 5'3".

Other Information:
I am love to read and even have an online book club. I also love to knit and garden.

Hi Again!
Thanks for the message on my page. Unfortunately my hubby has health issues and doesn't work out, so I feel like I'm in this a bit on my own. It would be great to have a workout buddy. When it is summer, I play golf and walk the course, so it gets me outside and walking.

How do you juggle your book, knitting, and gardening hobbies with your workouts? Seems like there isn't enough time in the day.

HI!
Thanks for the note on my page. It's awesome that you work out as a family and have time before the kids come home. I work 12 hours a day most of the time, so it's really hard. I get up at 6:15 and am at work at 8am and come home around 7/8pm. I hate to take an hour after I get home to work out because that means I'm isolated from everything that is going on at home. My energy level is also depleted. I'm not a morning person so I don't think that working out is an option. I've started to alternate doing weights one day and walking on the treadmill the next.

I've also had trouble staying between 1100-1300 calories.
