Waking Up Strong

I'm Shay, back for my third round with Spark. Started February 2010, and had a goal of losing 25lbs by my 25th birthday, which was at the beginning of May. I reached this goal. Even got a tattoo as an affirmation of my hard work paying off! And then, true to my old self, I waned working out from everyday runs and videos, to a few times a week to none at all. Same with my eating habits; I found myself reconnecting with my old ways.

I guess the good part about being a seasoned vet of Spark and weight loss is I know what I need to change and I know what hinders me from ultimate success.

My first time around, I completely immersed myself in everything exercise and diet related, every calorie counted, beating myself up if I didn't take that 5 mile run and opted for a half hour video instead. I was obsessed. Yes, I achieved the results I wanted. But what I didn't want was to obsess over something that's supposed to be positive. I need to work on reteaching myself the obedience but also find the balance..that with patience, support and determination I will, again, be successful.

It's time I suck it up, stop making the excuses, and do this for real, for the long haul. No giving it up when the going gets tough, and no giving up when I get to where I want to be. Sticking with it and creating a lifestyle. I've always been a quitter; with sports, musical instruments, extracurriculars, you name it - I quit it. So it's time I finish something I started, and finish it everyday for the rest of my life!

My Goals:
Beat my original 5k time from two years ago - 27:40

Run the Warrior Dash in August

Comfortably be a size 6-8

Not stop my regimen once I reach my goal weight (like I always do). Instead, I need to create a realistic maintenance program of diet and exercise.

My Program:
Do as much home cooking and experimenting with different proteins and veggies as I can.

Do a minimum 45 minute workout everyday. No gym for me, I'll stick to my videos and running outdoors. I also use 5lb weights and a resistance band.

Hey, just stopped by to let you know that I made the cauliflower sauce. OMG! Why did I not know about this until now. I took some of the base sauce and added some parmesan and part skim mozzarella to make an alfredo/cheese sauce with some whole wheat linguine. My eight year old LOVED it and ate two helpings! Thanks so much for the idea.

Hey!!! Yes I had twin boys on January 9th, thank you. Now I am back to SP to try losing the rest of the baby weight and get my body back in shape for bikini season. Glad to see you're back doing the same.
