Bring on 2014

I have been on SparkPeople for a year now and it has been a pretty successful year - I lost 25lbs - OK so I gained 10lbs of that back again - but overall that's a win, right?!
The biggest thing for me though has been getting my fitness back, I am running 2-3 times per week and just loving how much fitter and healthier I feel in myself.
My goals for 2014 are to shift a few more pounds, slowly but surely, and to keep up with the running, but increasing the distance.

Hello!

Thanks so much for your message. I totally agree: it should be the couch potatoes that get injuries, not the runners who drag their carcasses out in an attempt to keep everything in prime condition.

I hear you on the yoga - I have done a little of this before and I really believe it helps but just haven't squished it into my week for some time. I'm contemplating giving pilates another try soon too. These things combined with ongoing strength training and a good, concerted effort with improving my flexibility should help.

It sounds like things are going well for you with the 10k race coming up? I think that's a really nice racing distance. Surely spring is on the horizon where you are and that makes running all the more attractive.

We have a tropical cyclone right on top of us at the moment and it is a little frightening outside so I might not get another run in until tomorrow.

Have a great weekend!

Jen

As a special St. David's Day present to you, I've added a new pic to my Sparkpage Photo Gallery. Check out "Little Welsh Scubamum - circa 1964." (I was a lot sweeter at that age. emoticon )
