Having RA since age 6.5, and years of hospital stays and surgeries (38 operations and counting) have kept me on a weight loss roller coaster my entire adult life. I have five artificial joints, but love to work out, the higher intensity the better. I have three forms of arthritis destroying my body, but fight to keep moving every body part they damage. That is all that stands between me and a wheelchair. My favorite fitness classes are Boxercise, Step & Zumba! My trusty elliptical keeps me moving on the days I can't get out. Winters are long and hard here and even more challenging to keep moving.
I can only type with one finger so request you do not add me as friend as its all I can do to keep up with the great friends I already have!! Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read this!

Linda, thank you for your kind comment on Friend Feed about my sister. August 20 she had a 5+ hour surgery to remove a grapefruit-sized adrenal tumor and take biopsies from surrounding organs, in addition to a full hysterectomy. It was understood the adrenal tumor presented as likely cancer so we were waiting to hear what stage and what came next. The ovarian cancer diagnosis and clear biopsies on other organs was a surprise but thankfully found early enough to treat.

Wish you could get some serious pain relief. Hugs.

Linda, never underestimate all the support you give to others here. You are a consistently present kind voice, and so courageous in navigating your way through some pretty difficult life circumstances from time to time. I know that I consider you a coach and appreciate all that you do. So happy that the way Spark works makes it possible for many of us to engage to the degree that suits each of us from time to time . . .

"Does water jogging count? I would be doing that to give the tootsies a break..Or hiring a kid to take my fitbit for a run ;-)"

LOL. A kid? That really is genius :)

I would LOVE to be able to maintain with a higher calorie range but . . . experience tells me that no matter how many calories I burn working out, according to the tracker, eating to "match" the reported calorie burn results in weight gain. It's amazing how many calories an 18 hole game of golf purportedly burns, for example: but heaven help me if I eat them! Also calories tracker from grain type carbs seem to have the effect of 3-5x the calorie intake for me.

Oh well.

Experiment of one.

And exercise is so important for cardio health, flexibility, toning, mood management: even if it doesn't seem to help me much with weight maintenance.
