Hi, Kerry-lyn here - A South African currently living in Tanzania, East Africa. Just joined Spark...and hoping to find both inspiration and support here. I need to lose weight. I need to get fit. I need to believe I can do both.
Was an anoretic-bulimic for 8 years - reached 42kgs at lowest then everything went pear shaped: thyroid collapsed, starvation gener kicked in - and now I weigh probably 3 times that. Add a spinal fusion and recently a fractured vertebra and I am in serious need of constructive and positive guidance and encouragement. I battle to lose weight - and exercise is painful at the moment (but will persist with my back brace and treadmill!!!) - but the word DIET makes me put on weight, never mind eating. (put that down to eating disorder and the ramifications of it) ANYWAY - am excited to be in this SPARK community. THANK YOU for starting it - best, Kerry-lyn

I am getting so discouraged. I have been exercising consistently for over 6 years now. My routine consists of walking 45 minutes 3 day per week and stationary biking 30 inutes 3 days per week. I lift weights to target core muscles and back on MWF, target upper body on T and lower body on Th, plus I do a sun salutation yoga routine every morning when I get up and some relaxing yoga before I go to bed. The scales are stuck on the same weight I started at 6 years ago. My wt never fluctuates up or down. I have excellent muscle tone in my arms and legs, but wish I could do something about my waist line. What am I doing wrong here?
