We tend to stay relatively local over Easter as the roads become crazy with the invasion of tourist for the bank holiday weekend.
We did go for a couple of nice walks locally though as the weather was really on our side with peaks of 20c or 70f.
Hope you had a happy time over the weekend
Cheers

The Motorized Wheelchair.

Wednesday, February 26, 2014

I went in last week for the first appointment. They took my measurements and done exercises with me to check my balance. I got 19 points out of 56 points. Which is nut good. I get very lightheaded and dizzy at times for no reason. And it is slowly getting worse. I just fell against the window. I'm not hurt. It is not safe for me to go out at all. I went in for my 4: PM appointment yesterday and it was cancelled. I got to talk to the PT for a few minutes. The paperwork has been sent in. Now they will make an appointment with me to come out and access the Apartment. I had Medical Transport wait so he could bring me right back home. I was happy about that. I got out in the fresh air and went for a round trip ride. It was very windy and cold outside with the sun out. On the bright side I will be able to go out and enjoys doings things like shopping, going to parks, going to events etc. I need to do this for myself. I need to start enjoying life again. I'm not able to do it now. Now the down side is I will not be able to walk at all when I'm out. I do not want to lose my ability to walk. I do a lot of walking in my apartment. I do have a Gym Membership too. So will check that out once I get the wheelchair. I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully they can offer me things that I can do to help with the balance problems etc, And exercises to lose weight with. So these are my plans and goals I have for the next few months. Will give you updates along the way. God Blessings To Everyone. You Can Do It!!! Keep Pushing Forward!!! Stay On Track!! Do your Exercise Program!!! And You Will Make It To Your Goals. Keep Sparking!!!

That motorized wheelchair will be such a blessing. You will be able to get out safely without fear of falling and will be able to get around more easily. It sure gave me my freedom to attend events and get groceries that I can't carry because they are too heavy. It really changed my life. I got my first one twenty years ago! I went from being a shut in to getting out and enjoying the many festivals my city has.
You have not had any problems with your ears, have you? Sometimes dizziness and balance problems are caused by middle ear problems. You need to get thoroughly checked out! Physiotherapists can give you exercises to help with a balance problem. I saw one that specialized in dizziness and balance and she really helped me.
Stand up for your right to be taken care of and have all avenues explored!

I am sorry you are having problems with the dizziness and the balance problems. I know when my MS is really bad and I am having problems with the dizziness and balance issues the motorized wheelchair is my lifesaver. You will find it to be your best friend in those moments and will be able to get around much easier and do things you were not able to do for a while. Good luck and take it easy. Do the seated chair exercises we have on the chair exercise team too they are good to do from the chair and don't interfere with the dizziness or imbalance.

Elaine be careful, I think you would be better off at curves for resistance than machines. It would be the best. Even taking ballet, or the easiest yoga would be better than machines. It scares me to hear that you are falling. Did you call your doctor, and talk to them. maybe you need to pay attention to the med's , it may be very strong. You may need to take with food, or ask if you can divide it up. You might even have low blood pressure? Are you eating with your pills? Take care sweetie, eva

I am glad you will be able to get the wheelchair. I have a scooter that I need to use at times for when I am out in the community as my legs fatigue when I am out for longer periods. It really made a difference for me when I got it. All those things I could not do before like going to the zoo or going to the mall or other community events became something I could do. I know it is not an easy thing to adjust to knowing you need help with mobility. I put off getting mine for a long time, but once I got it I was glad to be able to do those things that previously I could not do. ((Hugs))

My PT and Gastroenterologist Apointments

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

My PT Appointment went well. I'm very happy with it. They took my measurements, had me do exercises for the balanced tests. I got 19 Points out of 56 Points. I got to try out a Motorized Wheelchair too. She said did you ever try one out before. I was in one going down a hall once. She said I done Awesome!!! I'm very quick to catch on to things like that. I go back next week to meet with the PT and Vendor. Then it goes to the Insurance Company to get the approval for it.
And now for My Gastroenterologist Appointment. I enjoyed the ride out there. It was the driver second day. I guess he wanted to go sightseeing in SE Portland. We went through mountains and areas that I have never seen before. So it was very nice for a changed.
Got to the Doctor office and all they wanted to know was my contact numbers which they already had. Okay. Was taken back to a room and they took my weight and Blood Pressure which was good 116/70. They presented me with a medication lost that was 4 year old. And ask if I was still on them. I said no and gave her my current list as of last Friday. Then the doctor came in and asked me how I was. I told him I was in the hospital again and he ask why. Told him with chest pain and they said was diagnosed with LVOL. They had no records on me at all. He didn't even know how to access them on the computer. Finally was able to find some tests results. Was asking the name of my Doctor, where she was, weather she was with Providence or not. Etc. He asked the same questions about my Cardiogist (heart doctor) who is in the same building on the second floor. He didn't know him. He did not exaimmed me at all, check my heart nothing. Told him I was having a lot of pain in the adommed (stomach) and very sore. Said all of it was caused by me smoking for 55 years. I am going to have to quit and stop for good. I'm on the ECigarerttes part time now. They refused to do anything that reqires sedation be caused of the heart. The artery that goes to the intestines is pretty bad too. It can close on me too. Then what? I'm very concerned about that too. The doctor is going to talk to the radioigist team and see what they might suggest. I asked him what they do and what could be done. Maybe stents he didn't know. They want to blamed any medical problem I have ever had on the cigarettes. I have smoked since I was 17. and I'm 71 years old now. I feel like I have been handed a death sentence. I keep hoping and praying that their are other things that they could do and try. I am letting God see me through this. He is my Savior and protector. He will get me through this I believe. Never Quit or Give Up Hope. Please continue to pray for me I need all the prayers I can get. Thank You for all your support and prayers. All of this had to come out. I should have started to blog when I had the first heart attack. Sorry that I didn't now. We all need to continue on our weight loss journeys to a healthy life style. This is the WTG!!! Spark ON!!!
They want to see me in 8 weeks. Why? For a repeat performance. It was a total disconnect for him about me before he even came into the room. I had to wait for an hour for the cab. It was a van with a ramp and he refused to put the ramp out for me saying it was for wheelchairs. So had to stepped up into it. Then he decided to take me on a wild ride on freeways by downtown and a very long way home. This is what they do to had to the fare. No I wasn't paying for it. When we got here he put my walker so close to the van I all but done a somersault over the walker bar it felt like. All I wanted was to get home and go to bed. I was totally drained mentally and emotionally from all of it. Praised God I did get 3 hours of sleep. Thank You God. I give God the Glory for Everything. God Blessings to Everyone Always and May He be with You Always Too. Have a Wonderful Week.

Sorry to hear of your health problems. Unfortunately, smoking does cause an awful lot of health problems and worsens others. The best favor you can do for yourself is to give it up. There are programs out there to help, because its such a difficult addiction to give up.
Hopefully all these Doctors will find solutions for you.
Those cab drivers ought to be reported for fleecing, surely that is not allowed..

Elaine, I will definitely be keeping you in my prayers. I was glad to hear you were able to get outside of your house and see the beauty of the mountains as you traveled to your appointment.
I am glad to hear you are trying so hard to quit smoking. That is good. You can do it. I am sorry though the doctors gave you the run around and failed to have the information submitted by your doctor's who have been working with you.
My husband and I just went through a season where his health was being attacked. He went it seemed every other week to the doctor to find out what was going on. All the tests they kept doing kept saying that he was find, but what was not known until we took him to the hospital was that his issue was a loss of blood.
In this time we held onto the word of God and had everyone that I knew, praying for God to bring out in the open what was going on.
Praise God , in God's time we found out what the trouble was and He is feeling much better.
I am believing the same for you. I am believing God's report. God speaks better things. I know that He is able.

Elaine sounds like the first part wasn't so bad but when you got to the doctor's not so good.
You have to keep on top of them, ask questions, etc.

God does do miracles. I have seen them in my own life. I asked god to save my whole family before going into eternity. I spoke to them each twice, once when dad died and once when mom died and gave them the plan of salvation. Most of my siblings didn't want anything to do with me and didn't want to talk to me but when they were close to death they talked and talked and talked.

I was the oldest of seven and all have died except one brother 3 years younger than I and myself. He was the first soul I ever won to the Lord. All of the rest received the Lord before dying. Praise God. The greatest miracle He has done for me.

But he also did miracles of healing when the doctor's could do nothing. If you would like to know more let me know.

Your friend, Irene emoticon

    Elaine,
Being part of the medical field, I can tell you that doctors will always tell you the worst. But then they don't know who we know and who we are in Christ. Isaiah 53 says that He carried all this upon himself so that those who love him will not have to. May the spirit of God comfort your today. I will be joining you in believing God for your health.

My Journey since 7/23/2013. My first Heart Attack and up to Now.

Thursday, February 13, 2014

I have been losing weight slowly and doing what I can do in the way of exercise. I'm a very close person. I keep most everything to myself. That is my down fall since being on SparkPeople. It is going to be a learning experience because I don't like talking about myself at all. So please be patient with me. I would appreciate it very much. When the paramedics got here my heart rate was 189 beats per minute. Heart Attack time. Was in the hospital 4 days that time. I started having heart hearts every 6 weeks to two months. Was hospitalize for each one except for one. I refused to go in. I thought I could handle it myself. I'm use to handling everything by myself. That was the wrong thing to do. Always get to the hospital as soon as you can. It could save your life. The home health nurse came out for that one. I had one 11/9/2013. I prayed to God that I would get through the holidays without having one. Which I did. Christmas and New Years was very rough on me because of not hearing from my Son Ernie for over two years and being alone. He lives 50 miles from me. One of my Goals this year was to stay out of the hospital. That was short lived. My next heart attack was 1/23/2014. Came home 1/28/2014. Then on 2/8/2014 I stared having bad chest pain again Now this time I knew it was not a heart attack. T wanted to get in before it case it went into one. Was in the ICU for 2 days the last 2 times I was in the hospital. Blood Pressure was over 200 when the Paramedics got here. B/P went down to 60/30 because of the Nitro Drip they had me on. Had to stop it. My B/P was going all over the place up and down for 2-3 days. They had to stablizied before I could come home 2/11/2014. The diagosed is LVOT ( left ventricular outflow tract obstruction). Will be on Plavix for 2 more months. Will continue my heart medication. Will continue to monitor B/P and heart rate at home. Have to get a heart monitor machine though. Hope medicare will pay for it. I have no stents at all. Three of the arteries are narrowing in the heart along with a artery going into the intestines. Have had complications through all of this too. I have a brother in California too. Will blog about him at a later date. I love helping people too. I feel that I have help a lot of people here on Spark too. Which I'm happy about. I love to motivate, encourage and do whatever I can to help people here on Spark on their journeys too. I live to help everyone the best I can. I hope this blog has told you about me and my life now. My Lord Jesus Christ has brought me through all of this. I thank my God for it and Praise the Lord. Jesus is my Savior. God Blessings to Everyone. May God be with you always and protect you from harm and danger too. I give God all the /glory for everything too. Keep Sparking til next time Elaine. Thank You everyone for all your support and prayers. Please continue to pray for me as I continue on this journey od my life. Thanks Again.

Dear ELAINE I am so sorry I cut back on replying to others I kind of did it for the people who are always there for me and you are most definitely one of them. I noticed you missing and I thought it was because I did not respond back. Now I understand so much you are going through alone and you are always reaching out to others I feel I should have supported you better than this.
Do you contact your son at all?

You said you are finally reaching out to us your Spark friends it might help if you can reach out to your son and tell him about your situation.
I hope it can happen. I was out of touch with my brothers and after 23 years we exchange little notes to stay in touch. He is in the UK but your son is so close.

My dad had similar conditions as you and the physical and rehab therapists worked with him to set up an exercise routine (very simple, mostly seated or standing with a walker for stability) - the benefit of physical movement is amazing.

Can you call your son? 50 miles isn't that far away. Don't wait until it's too late.

Good goin', Elaine! Motivating people to do positive things is a great goal.

That's my gift, according to feedback. Encouragement. It's kinda hard, isn't it, when you are personally not feeling well. And sounds like you've been through the mill. Is there anything they can do for the ventricular-multi-word-diagnosis?R>
Don't like hospitals; have been in them too often. It's interesting when you're on a first name basis with the intake staff. But sometimes they're necessary. And taking your own advice about getting help, whether you want to or not, is a good thing. emoticon

Hope you had a great Valentine's Day!

The scariest health problems have to be heart issues. I am glad you will seek help immediately now when you have a problem. Can they fix this defect with surgery?
So very sorry to hear you are not getting any support from your relatives, especially not even your own son :(((
Know that you have all your Spark friends surrounding you with prayers, hugs and healing well wishes..

Dear Elaine, emoticon sent your way. I am so sorry you have gone through so much. I can relate to not wanting to go to the doctor. I have been bad in this area many times. I have learned from experience that it is wise to have things checked out.
I am so glad that you got the help you needed and that the Health care nurses are there for you. I praise God for the people in health care. I have two sisters who are both RN's .
Know that I will be patient with you. I understand the difficulty to open up. I respect that. Know that I am here to encourage you along the way. We all need one another. This road can get lonely at times and it is nice to know that people are praying and looking out for your best interest.
I am glad you took the time to write and share. This is very brave .
Know that I pray for you and look forward to reading how God turns things around for you. He is faithful.
Love,
Relisa

So glad to see you back on the team threads. I was so worried that something had happened to you. Glad the doctors were able to diagnose your problem and get you on the right meds. God is the great physician, but does do His work through human doctors as well. Will continue to pray for you and your health issues. Just glad to see you back!!!
You are so needed on this team. You have a heart for helping others and sound like a prayer warrior. I know everyone is very thankful for your assistance. Glad you joined the group!!! Take care of yourself my friend. Eileen emoticon
