Summer Challenge Update & Butterfly Pics

The summer challenge is going well. My local fitness center offered a free consultation with the dietitian and I met with her last week. The reason my weight loss has been slow was because even though my SP tracker told me to eat more I should have been watching more of my protein and fat intakes. I knew there was something I was missing. So sure enough now I have seen a big difference in the numbers and the measurements. I am hungry but I guess if you're not hungry you aren't going to lose any weight. I am still working out but I have increased it to 90 min a day with a hula hoop challenge thrown in but am only doing that for about 5 min and have increased the amount of time I spend on my weight training. It feels very nice to be back on track! emoticon

Here are the pics of more butterflies that were feeding on milkweed in my garden.
this is a banded hairstreak



this one is very dark and I thought it was black but then when I cropped it I was so surprised to see all the orange. I couldn't anything to ID it but on the wisconsin butterfly I see other pics similar. it could be a stripped hairstreak






this one is a silvery checkered spot.

all for now, it has been a bit cool and cloudy the last couple days for butterflies. I know it's supposed to warm up again soon.

    I've NOT ever seen a gray butterfly !! That's kinda NEAT !! U are right,, there are some orange color on the hair butterfly !! HOW COOL !! I've read up on butterflies,, it was under an article of "Created or evolution"? Pointing of the delicates of the way it flies,, the way it forms,, so perfectly in the cocoon,, and out it comes !!! Of course I am apt to say "Creation" cos how could something so very delicate,,, also know all the journey they take? I live in Maine, so I am familiar with the orange monarch which fries from Canada down to Mexico (if I am remembering right,, it's been over 4 yrs since I read that) and yet,, it has no GPS,, and comes back to where it was in the first place,,,, how COOL is that ! Plus the beauty in just the flight to start with. TY SO MUCHERS For the Pics !! NICE INDEED !!

Along the dieting part,,, if you do use the tracker,, and it's encouraged if you have the time,,,, it'll help you to make sure you eat enough protein,, which helps us from "feeling hungry" which you do NOT need to feel in order to lose. Often the lack of proper protein does lead us to that,, and if ur protein intake is correct (for me it's 60),,,,, if that's hit,, than I prob need more water,, between them both,, it's GREAT !!! I hardly ever feel hungry, as I am at this exact moment, but I KNOW a simple yogurt,,,, with just 90 cals,,,, and 12 proteins ,,,, I'll be FINE ! WOOHOOO I save it for late at night,,, just b4 I go to bed,, so that I DO NOT get up at 5AM,, and start on an eating FRENZY !!! LOL I LOVE/HATE that ! LOVE the food,, hate the cal intake that'll put the LBS onto me.

I AM GIVING IT MY BESTEST to HIT that 5% GOAL !! It WILL come down to the LAST WEEK !! I am NOT sure how "accurate" my scale is,, for with the cast,, I can't use my digital scale,, which I started off with,,, I can only stand on a dail one,, with which it cn go around, and aournd,, where it stops NO BODY KNOWS !! I had thought my cast was 4 lbs,, so I asked the other day,,its 3 lbs !! YIKERS !! I HAD been taking OFF 4 lbs ! So this past Sat,, I made that correction,, otherwise I would of lost 2 lbs,, instead it was one. That's NOT bad, but I need to drop 4 lbs in 3 weeks,, and if I go hungry at ALL,, it'll lead me to MOWING DOWN on ANYTHING for ANY length of time !! I've done this in the past,, and GAINED 60 lbs BACK !! I had moved to CO with "Family" (they are NOT now !) and the abuse was hard,, to watch, and also go thru some ($$$ wise,, they wanted ALL I had,, while saying "We loveeeee you) yeah they LOVED my $$$$$ !! When I cut them OFF,, they got ANGRY, of course,, the mentality of a fly. :)

TAKE CARE !! Again NEAT PICS !! I LOVE to and have only once done so,, got a pic of a bumble bee on a flower.

Butterflies and Milkweed

I can't wait to photograph a swallowtail this year. I was practicing on this dragon fly, I hope there are bigger ones than this out there!
finally, the wild roses are blooming in my yard.
The farmer that rents our fields got his hay up and bailed. They are getting about $100 each for these bails.

This week I am going to the fitness center all five days again. I have been reading a lot of articles on no weight loss when working out at a higher intensity. I was ready to give up again but all the articles and all you have told me not to give up. I will not give up, I sure would love to fit into the cute clothes I wore last summer! Dang! I hope that they will fit me soon though. I am trying to stay positive and not give up. emoticon I know because I have done it before. The trick is to stay at a healthy weight!

    This happened to me before, and then I lost one pound on weigh in day, without expecting it, and then another time, only on weigh in day, I was down 3. So just hang in there, it comes off when it comes off, and you my SparkFriend, have been doing way AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

    I'm so glad you posted on my page - I have just subscribed to your blog! I love your photos. The other morning I saw a small black dragonfly that I have not seen before, along with some larger green and iridescent winged ones. They are SO cool. Those butterflies! Beautiful!

    Oh my gosh, we have those big flowers growing wild here and I didn't know what they were called. Milkweed! thanks, I have been wondering as I never saw them growing here before but when we had the large trees removed all sorts of things came up!
I hope you will be able to post more butterfly pictures.

The last 2 Falls we have had dragon fly swarms in the yard. Really cool!

Way to go on getting to the fitness center all week! I have been slacking, guess I better get a move on. Those articles sound like they were helpful. Sometimes I get so frustrated when the scale does not reflect my activity.

Keep at it my friend and soon those clothes will fit just right!

Keep pushing it will happen. I have been working hard and not lost as much weight as I wanted but I'm so much more fit. I have gone down a couple sizes and doing things I have not been able to do before. Keep it up!

Summer 5% Challenge Coming Right Up!

Okay, I finished the Spring 5% challenge. I didn't get rid of the 8 lbs that I thought I for sure would have lost! But on the more positive side, I didn't gain anything and I am hopeful that I will weigh the same as when I started the challenge or even be down a pound!

Update on the Ayurvedic eating plan: I am continuing to keep certain foods out of my eating plan. Sometimes they sneak in, but I am managing very well. I have added even more fruit and veggies that are recommended and they seem to keep me full enough and I don't snack as much. All good.

This is week 3 of my fitness center membership. I haven't been going every day but I am building up to 5 days a week. So far this week I have made it 3 days. emoticon Next week I should be up to 5 days. I hope to see the scale move on Sat. If not, I will keep trying!

    emoticon Even though I have lots of workout equipment here, I'd love to join a fitness center for a few months, to shake things up. We live too far away from town to do so but maybe my husband and I can do it jointly when he retires. It's be like a real life fitness camp for a few months. emoticon

    I always find the between time of the 5%challenges to be the real Challenge. Trying to maintain your weight, even those few weeks, can be hard. So congratulations on going to the gym and making it a regular part of your week. Keep working on that exercise because with your great eating plan the regular exercise may just kick that scale into submission!

One thing I did this break is put a list of the LTGL challenges on my fridge. Now when I see it I am reminded..did I:

Drink water
Track my food/stay in range or be mindful of what I ate
Take some "me" time
Use a smaller plate
Check my wellness measure, sleep, stress,energy etc.
Stretch today
Freggies..Need I say More! Eat Them!!
Blog or Keep in touch with friends.

Let me know what team you get on. We can be friendly competitors during the next round!

    Congratulations for staying the same during the Spring Challenge. That is one heck of any accomplishment - learning to stay the same is a huge part of success, you know.

Now you can work on your Summer Challenge. You have learned a lot during your Spring one - apply them to your Summer challenge and maybe increase your exercise a smidge - that might help you get rid of a few more pounds!

5% Challenge

emoticon Fresh fruit and veggies must be the only way I am able to see the scale go down. As soon as I threw in the bad carbs and treats I saw the scale go up. This is the last week of the challenge and I plan on eating clean. Some of the challenges I face this week are having our Grandkids with us and of course the Holiday. At least the holiday is only one day!

emoticon to all of the 5% challengers that made it through! Hope those that didn't will get on track and get back. Remember, all the steps you take get you somewhere! emoticon
