Lots of stress this month...

Monday, July 08, 2013

I will be traveling to Anchorage this month for cataract surgery. Since I live in Seward and I won't be driving up, I have to take the bus. Unfortunately it only leaves Seward once a day, so my first appointment on Wednesday, which would normally take a few hours, will be a 3 day trip. Next week, I go for surgery, that trip will be 4 days. The last appointment a week later will be quick, only 2 days.

I did find a hotel that has full kitchens, so I can bring food. That will help a lot. I will be doing this alone, and frankly, it is times like this that I regret being alone. Anyway, wish me luck, I'll keep everyone posted. If any of you live in Anchorage, Let me know, it would be kind of nice to meet others here.

emoticon Best of luck with your surgery. I live in Illinois; however, I wish I lived in Anchorage now just to be somewhere for you to hang out. Keep us posted! emoticon

Good Luck with your surgery. Make your stay in the hotel like a mini vacation.

4th of July

Friday, July 05, 2013

It was a very busy day, starting with breakfast, then getting ready for the parade. Today was the first time I rode on a parade float, it was a lot of fun, one of the joys of living in a small town, is that you know a lot of people. Our float, representling the Senior Center, won 3rd place! It was the center's first float, we are all very proud and already looking forward to next year.

After the parade, I went to a friends house for a barbeque. It was a wonderful day, full of friends and fun.

Wonderful that the float won 3rd place especially with it being the first time entering. Happy to hear that you had such a wonderful day! emoticon

Just beginning...

Thursday, July 04, 2013

It's been about a week since I started on this journey to better health. I find that logging everything I eat really makes me aware to just what I am stuffing in my body. emoticon

I am still not able to exercise much, too many years of doing nothing, so I am taking it slow, I see a physical therapist twice a week and I have been able to move more without a lot of pain.

Today I am riding on a float in the July 4th parade here in Seward, with the Senior Center. I'm looking forward to that. We hope to win the prize for the decorations. I'll take some pics and add them later. emoticon Wishing everyone here a safe and happy 4th!
