I decided to try something new to help me from the late night snacks. I've taken to brushing my teeth after dinner. We'll see how it works out.
I kind of fell off the food log wagon and I'm disappointed in myself, but I'm working on getting back on. It's tough.
My sister asked me the other day if she could join me as a guest at my gym every so often. She's wanting to get healthier too. I'd love to have her, honestly, first step is finding out if I can bring a guest. Next step is getting her schedule and mine lined up so we can hit the elliptical machines in unison!
Can I just say I can't wait until the time changes so that I can get back out and walk my dogs and go for walks myself.

Look at those numbers! I'm so pleased with myself this week -- one day of my goal range calorie wise, the rest reigned in pretty well.
Now, the other factors - fat, protein, carbs -- I'm still working on that, but today was awesome! I'm not even feeling hungry. Did I turn a corner in the nutrition world? No more desire to eat all day? We'll see. For now, I'm just incredibly stoked about my progress.
Did I tell you i went for a full hour and 5 minutes on the elliptical yesterday? I'm hitting it again tomorrow night, plan to maintain the hour. Wish me luck!
Also .... I did some strength training on my lunch break. One thing: Tricep dips are HARD!
I did the SP upper body strength move called the boxer and I did wall push ups. Felt invigorated, took no time at all, burned a few calories, and got some extra activity in on day I knew I wouldn't be making it to the gym. I'll try to tackle more dips tomorrow. I mean, they're serious business.

Tonight I OWNED that elliptical. THIRTY minutes. THIRTY MINUTES! THIRTTTTYYYYY MINUTESSSSS!!!!!
tonight there wasn't anyone at the gym, the cardio room was empty save for one girl when I got in there. She left shortly after I hit the treadmill and was replaced by a really kind woman. I told her I was going to brave the elliptical for the second time ever tonight and was aiming to beat my record of 10 minutes.
After 12.5 minutes and feeling awesome, I decided to go for 20 minutes. And at the 17.5 mark, decided to keep pushing.
It was seriously the best work out I've given myself in a long time! I am soooo pleased with myself.

A week or so ago, I finally got to the 5 minutes of running point. Eeee! I'm great at walking at a 3.5 to 3.7 pace, but beyond that -- ugh. So I broke through that wall last week and have been trying to maintain at least 5 minutes of running during my 15 - 20 minutes of treadmill time.
Then, and this is where I'm most amped -- tonight there was so much energy at the gym. I got to the treadmill after strength training to find about seven people, all running, on the treadmills. There was one open for me, so after the warm up, I started to run right along next to all these energized, positive people. It felt AWESOME!
So then ... my first for tonight. I was feeling so excited about the energy in the gym tonight, after the mile on the treadmill, I spent 15 minutes on the stationary bike, and then -- THEN -- I got up the courage to brave the dreaded elliptical.
That machine is a beast. But you know what, for ten whole minutes, I owned it!
And I'm looking forward to getting back on that beast tomorrow.
Now ... to determine a first for next week as well...

First off -- I didn't weigh myself today. I'm going to aim to NOT get on the scale every day. Seems that became a pretty serious habit of mine for awhile. And, unlike some people, I was okay with ONLY maintaining. But any day I'd find myself a pound or two heavier, I'd kind of freak out.
This time I'm aiming to focus on fitness. My actions were calculated today -- thought out and calculated. I had fresh fruit for breakfast -- not big enough, I'm sure, but healthy! I had a buffalo chicken salad for lunch, which was a surprise and extremely delicious. Then I logged into Sparkpeople from work, which is no longer a blocked website *hallelujah* and input my caloric intake. After work I went to the gym and, before getting something to eat for dinner (because JM and I have zero groceries in this house right now), I input my activities for the day, calculated my calories remaining, and chose a dinner based on what I could afford -- not only financially, but calorically!
THAT is my new outlook. Eat only what I can afford. Might sound kind of crappy, but I'm giving it a fair shot.
I'm sure I'll have more updates in the coming days.
