It's a good day

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

So I had a bumpy week last week, was craving everything unhealthy and tried to curve the cravings by having a small amount of what I wanted, but kept going and the stage that I was too scared to face the scales this week and left it for next week.
On the plus side, I am working with my friend to try and incorporate exercise into our lives and not just sit around on the computer all the time! It seems to be going well, I'm on a roll for exercise over the last few days and will hopefully keep it up :D I love the workout videos on here...they are very good and enjoyable. Though I don't find a lot of them enough of a push, so I find myself doing a handful of videos or a video and brisk walk into uni (40mins).
Food wise I made lasagna today :D I cannot forgo the bechamel, but instead of making it for all the layers I only added a layer of bechamel to the top and added in a whole variety of vegetables to my mince pork mix (I used lean minced pork instead of beef). Was delicious and I had to really stop myself doubling the portion size :P. is good and am very positive for the future :D
Have a great week and keep warm!

I seem to be gaining weight instead of losing it. Yes, I know yesterday I consumed the upper limit of my daily calories and fat content...however I also exercised a lot more and over the week I've eaten well I think.
Now I can only really put my weight increase onto the fact that I am doing more strength exercise and hopefully it's muscle mass. I hope to see my weight decrease and/or my clothes feeling looser. I must also admit to struggling to completely follow any diet...I think I need to sit down and begin properly planning my daily meals.
Well I reckon if I keep strong my new lifestyle changes shall give me the rewards (I hope).
Good luck everyone and keep strong :D

Using your muscles more leads to short term water retention as they heal. Also the body doesn't work over such short periods as yesterday and last week, it's not a machine, and the calories in, calories out is a very crude way of estimated weight loss. It works over a time scale of weeks, you will have to be tolerant and patient.

It sounds like you are doing everything right. Sometimes we have hormonal changes, fluid retention, etc, and this can be frustrating. Also if you have been exercising and building muscle, this can weigh more, but it also burns calories at a greater rate. So I would hang in there and not let this small blip upset me too much. They say consistency is the key and I am counting on it myself! emoticon

Falling of the wagon

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Well, I have been very lucky and had an amazing day yesterday. Lots of fun and once my exam was over I was overjoyed. I decided to treat myself. Unfortunately I completely lost track of how much I had eaten, and went way overboard :( I'm now suffering morning after guilt. I ate way too much and have to get back on track.
It really has just emphasised the fact that I need to change my attitude towards food. I need to learn to control what I eat, and when I am treating myself not to go overboard and treat it like it's the last meal I'll ever eat.
So now back on track, stocked up on fruit and vegetables and will endevour not to have such a catastrophic lapse again.
Yesterday I was talking to a course mate. She lost 20kg before going to uni and I never would've guessed she was ever over 70kg; she's tincy and skinny and a pixy!! She has definitely become part of my inspiration, if she can do it so can I :D So I'm going to work hard on changing eating habits and get healthier over time!!
Today I'm having a vegetable stir fry for dinner, since I have a lot of vegetables that I need to use up. Also it should be a good way to balance out all the sugar I ate yesterday. I will keep using spark to come up with healthier and delicious recipes!!

cold weather, cold me

Saturday, January 19, 2013

What do I eat when I'm ill and have no energy to cook? That will be my dilemma this weekend. I found this week an odd struggle, I was craving chocolate and fast food all week...managed to control myself on the whole. I don't expect miracles but would be nice to see that I've lost weight. What I haven't managed was my new exercise regime...I will have to work hard to make that a fixed part of my lifestyle.
On a different note...isn't the snow lovely. I was smiling at university yesterday, the snow made it look stunning. Though walking home I couldn't help but think that all the puddles of water and snowy mush is going to become dangerous as it freezes over night. Though snow is always exciting here, since it's not common :)
Have a great weekend everyone!

Long long day...

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Well, today has been a very long and stressful day. So I'm running on 2 hours sleep since I couldn't get a very temperamental program to work for a piece for work for uni. Then spent the day working on it every second I wasn't in lectures. On top of it I had an entire day just learning about concrete, which I really enjoy, but 9-5 with an hour lunch break all on concrete and running on 2 hours sleep was more than enough to try me today.
Food wise, I've had an appalling day...I have just had my first meal of the day (breakfast/lunch/dinner rolled into one). I only managed to have a single cup of coffee during the day and some water :(.
Tomorrow should be much better, not nearly as busy and much more relaxed. I think we need to go buy an oven tomorrow, ours in the flat is dead and we have all just kept putting it off.
So gong to relax and sleep tonight :D Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully a much better one!
