I swear to all that is HOLY!! I am a little peeved against my lovely hubby.

We went out with friends last night...had fun and out until 9:30 (I know....ooooo! very late!) ROFL

I had on the calendar a happy hour with my girlfriend tonight...I didn't even want to go either, but I went because I said I would and she was so happy...I just got home at 9:15 b/c I was feeling bad he was testy on the phone 45 minutes earlier...HE IS IN BED! and I went in to say I was home and all he says is "I'm tired." MEN!!!!!! He is being such a BABY!! emoticon
I just don't get why his panties are in such a twist!!!!

Anyway. Happy hour is pretty much the same as I remember it. I'm not missing much, that is for sure. Basically 4 women, ages 36 to 38, go onto the back patio - on the bay - wind blowing. Very nice. 12 years ago....I would have be the fat friend and wanting to hide. Tonight, I'm not caring b/c I'm happily married and wearing a cute beachy dress with flip-flops and sunglasses in my hair. I have to actually wonder if people were actually looking at me...if they were, I was not aware...and I did not care. I love being older and wiser.

So me and the cougars...yes, cougars...single, hot mom' this spot in the gazebo by the boats. My friend's co-worker shows up with his friends, and EVENTUALLY they start opening up because it starts raining and they join us in the gazebo. OMG - these kids were BABIES!!! 24, 25 yo - LOL I was wetting my pants b/c it was just such a funny scene!!! I was the youngest of the ladies there too. I was drinking seltzer with lime - which was a little tip I got from somewhere online - people think it's a gin and tonic! LOL which one of these kids asked if he could get me b/c he was hitting the bar. Total fakeout!!!!

Well the little tykes were pretty funny when I packed it in. I made my very true excuses for leaving (one being a pissy husband, and kids to take care of, and that I have to work in the morning) - they were shocked that I was married and had 3 kids! They all thought I was 26 years old! LMAO!! emoticon So there you go - that just made my night!! Pissy hubby aside, that made my night!!!

I'm glad you enjoyed your night out. We cannot let our husband spoil it for us. We need our time too. Best of luck to you!

LOL - I don't know if any of you are "subscribed" to this or not, but hubby got awoken by some fireworks and came downstairs as I was typing this I told him the whole night because, well, we share pretty much everything. He doesn't say much of anything sometimes, which is fine...he's fine, just had a "headache". He's got his own "anxiety" stuff going on, and sometimes he's just hard to read - even to me who has been with him for 12 years! ROFL! Honestly, I think he's never been a fan of my friend, although that is slowly changing now that she is back on LI. I think he wished he was hanging out with me instead of the kids!!!

My husband and I have always been able to go out and enjoy the company of others without any jealousy or pouting. After all who are you going home to or with at the end of the night.

Hmmm, was you hubby perhaps a bit jealous? After all, he's got a pretty sexy wife! Wish I could give you some advice that would make things better the next time; however, when I was your age, if I were to go out like you did, I would probably have received a similar action from my hubby.

Years ago, once a year, there was a work-related event that I was required to attend; after it was over, some of us would go somewhere for a drink or two. For almost two weeks, my hubby acted like a little boy. It took several years, but his actions have matured (Well, I think they have! Then again, I'm no longer going out without him. LOL).

I'm afraid I have to disagree with some of the advise you were given. Wait a few days, and then discuss the situation with him; ask him why he was upset and what he was expecting. Ignoring the problem will not make it go away; in fact, it may be worse the next time. And, there will be the opportunity for you to join your girlfriends for a night out; so, address it now.

ROFL = Rolling on the floor laughing
LMAO = Laughing my a** (or arse) off
(By the way, I had to look them up!)

Congrats on getting out! Sounds like a blast!

Pissy hubby and just get himself twisted!

I would have gone out with my gf Jasmine tonight if her little guy'd not been sick and her hubby could have gotten loose from work on time (not her fault)...

Love the "babies"...

Just ignore the pissy husband. You deserve to have some fun with your gal pals. It's not your problem that your husband can't handle it. It's HIS problem! Don't give it another thought, except smirking to yourself at what fun you had while he was home with the kids. And whatever you do, don't try to "talk" to him about how he acted when you came home. Then he'll know it bothered you. Just pretend you didn't even notice.

It sounds like you enjoyed your evening out with friends. My husband doesn't mind if I go out, but of course we have other issues. As much as you love them, husbands can be very trying at times!

I have a question on some of the phrases. I know lol is laughing out loud. What do these mean?

A very fun weekend

Monday, August 17, 2009

Wow! What a weekend!

My hubby and 2 oldest went camping on a "guys only" weekend with their grandfather...the outcome of which was a stressed out husband, a happy grandpa, and 4 happy little boys! LoL My poor hubby declared to his father - "next's just you and me and any other male adult" - sorry kids and'll be camping out in the driveway next year. LOL

I kept my youngest son back b/c he would have just been a headache and a 5th wheel amongst the cousins. It worked out grea, even though I did have to bring him to work with me and that was a little but of a chore. I did, however, plan a MOM's ONLY night out at my house for later that fun fun!!!! Little guy's bedtime was 8pm SHARP!

Let's just say this - the alcohol consumption from that night CANNOT be tallied because there is NO WAY I can account for how many beers were consumed! A party of 8 women was whitled down to 3 and then another later made 4.

Sometimes things happen, and I completely understood why my other friend (who had half the party in tow) bailed on us. You can totally understand why someone wants to rest after having 2 D&Cs in a row from a miscarriage 2 weeks ago. The poor thing...I felt horrible that she had to go thru that..and she felt bad about canceling on us!! God bless her! Now that is a friend.

When the small gathering began on that low note - we all toasted our friend and got to the girl talk. I haven't had a girl's night out in soooooooo long! and mind you, these women are friend/acquaintenances - if you know what I mean. They are neighbors down the road from me and I'm kind of on the fringe. Well, after a night of heavy drinking and sharing - that is when new friendships form and create new bonds.

We had a blast and ended the party at 1 am when a hubby came to pick them all up...mind you, all there hubby's are good guys, just like my guy; which is probably why we get along.

Long story short: I took a chance at a gathering and it worked out no matter how many were there...sometimes putting yourself on the line in a good way is the only way you are going to grow.

Hubby doesn't know it yet...but another Mom's night out will be going on sooner than later...

The dreaded bathing suit pic!!!

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

No it's not posted here...sorry! emoticon

But I just wanted to say that this is the first time EVER that I didn't mind myself in a picture in my bathing suit. Not that there are many at all that even exist!

My SIL Jenn came over with Cami, my 4 month old niece, and we decided to get in the pool...and splash her feet a little bit to cool her down. I was holding her for a few shots and you know what? I saw them and it wasn't that bad! And these will be forever Shutterflied into a scrap book too. When I'm 60, I'll think I was so hot, I'm sure! emoticon

So there you go everyone....I got some sparkpoints, and you all now have some hope that one day you won't want to burn every pic of yourself in a suit! Now...where did I put my matches? Oh yeah, they are lying next to that photo album from a few summer back!!!! emoticon

Lots of little things going on...nothing fabulous, just stuff.

I returned a dress today that was (to me) hideous. I picked it up for my sister's wedding, a black and white thing with a large print and a cummerbund type waist and the top part, well...I could have used it to carry my infant niece in it...that's how much room I had in there with "the girls". It was one of those purchases when everyone there was "OH - that looks soooo nice, you TOTALLY have to get that!" and "Just get a pushup bra, it will fill it in." After I got home, the more I tried it on, the more I HATED it. I was NOT going to walk down the aisle in a too big, ugly zebra dress! It needed alterations, big time.

Taking control of the situation meant, #1 - getting the pushup bra and #2 - seeing if the store had a smaller dress. #1 bra mission - accomplished in 10 minutes. #2 dress mission - more entertaining by far!! The store was great - nice little "Chain boutique" Black Market/White warned though....they mainly have sizes 0, 2, 4, 10, 14 in stock...the othersizes fly off the shelves when they come in. I'm a 12. I bought a 14. DUH!!!! Well, I talked to the lady there, and we went right to the back rack where I got the original zebra dress. ONE SIZE 12!!! but not in the same dress. IT WAS A BETTER DRESS!!!!!!!! Smaller print, no cummerbund. Just right. IT FIT!!!! It literally took 4 inched off my waist visually. That alone was reason enough to buy the dress. AND it was $20 I bought a little silk shrug for the ocean breeze during the night of the wedding. AND I bought a new pair of black patent leather stiletto's...never had a pair of those...very sexy if I do say so myself. Let's just say I added a staple to my wardrobe...glad the other dress is GONE!

What's sticky here. Hazy hot humid. Yuk.

I've been working my muscle groups more...not so much the cardio because of the heat and humidity, but the new routine is kind of fun to do at night while watching tv. I think doing the new stuff has given me some renewed ooomph to maintenanceland.

I've been good tracking and watching the cals. The 4 pounds is still hanging on, but that is OK. My body is toning up and that is more important than a number.

The weekend was busy - entertained or was entertained for 3 straight nights. The kids were pissy by the 3rd night...they were lacking in sleep by that time. My friend Annmarie and her family came over and we had a blast catching up. After 10 years of being away from one another, it's nice to reconnect.'s late, and I'm pooped. Nighty night to whomever reads this....I wish you sweet dreams!! emoticon

Rock on re. finding the right dress. The first one reminds me a joke told by a female comedian... the girl in the store said the dress looked better on, and I asked, do you mean "on fire"?

And yeah, we'd best see pix!

Sounds like you had a reconnection weekend too! Re. old boyfriend eating his heart out... well, Mark said to him flat out, "I'm sorry for you that you lost her. But I'm happy for me that you screwed up." That's my man!

I also agree, summer can go away now. Although we had a beautiful atypical July... not too hot or too humid... weeks and weeks of it... we even slept with the windows open occasionally.

Here's to livin' la vida Maintenance!

I'm also heading off to nighty night land!! Sweet dreams.

The canoe's maiden voyage

Monday, August 03, 2009

We went camping this weekend....a trip that is actually worth writing about because Murphy was with us the ENTIRE time. His law WAS the law. Nothing went according to plan and it includes the following:

- set up camp in the rain
- went to a state park with our friends on the one good day of the weekend they went 1 hour earlier and we got turned away at the gate b/c they were at capacity...friends couldn't even come out even though they had a pass b/c then they wouldn't be let back in....dumb state park
- the river was overflowing it's banks, so we had 36 campers shoved into a tiny spot NEXT to our camper...that was fun
- mud mud mud everywhere
- we spent $200 extra at an indoor water park to kill a rainy day...go figure that one. The kids had fun at least.
- our car battery died right before we hooled up the trailer...had to get a jump from a gearhead next to our site. Thank God they were there... God bless them!!

The best time of the trip, besides spending quality time with our long distance friends was the 20 MINUTE CANOE TRIP we had while our friends were enjoying themselves at a park beach without us. We found the boating pond down the road from the park entrance and decided to just do it. The water was still, the time was right. We needed to get in the boat b/c we trekked the damn thing all the way up there to use it.
We got the gear on the kids and us, and then we got the boat down. Not too bad of a thing to do - in fact, very easy. We got to the water, where I got in first, then my middle son, then my oldest, and behind him (hidden from cameras, but controlled by my husband) was our youngest. Hubby jumped in after push off and away we went!!

SOOooooo quiet. Not a peep from the kids for the first time in DAYS. So still. So wonderful. It was perfect. The ONLY THING that went right the entire trip. No joke.

We spend 20 minutes on that pond, going up and down, around and around. I didn't want to tempt fate & my motherly instincts was saying that this could only last so long, so we turned back and had a perfect landing as well.

This was the best thing we did all weekend. Mission accomplished. Kudos to my husband for getting the canoe. He was right. We needed that canoe, even if for those perfect 20 minutes.

Loved your post! It just shows what I learned this weekend... that life often gives you lessons sent in ridiculous packaging!

My life has been hanging constant 'ups' all this year... mostly good, mostly unexpected, all confusing.

Hang in there! I'm hanging with ya!
