Off to a Great Start

Today has been a productive day for me so far. I woke up this morning feeling kind of sluggish, but I was able to push myself to go ahead and finish all of the things I had planned for the day. I went to the gym, and then when I got back home I did SparkPeople's bikini workout plan. It felt like a good workout, so I'm going to try and do it 3 times a week.

After working out I took my daughter for a swim and to the park. She had a lot of fun, we're loving the weather here. It's perfect!

Tonight I start my first day at a new job, so I'm really hoping I like it. The lady who interviewed me said that it's pretty easy, so I'm not going to worry too much. It's a call center job and I've worked at call centers before, but I usually burn out from them after like 3 months at most. LoL. I'm really just working to build up a savings so 3 months should be enough time to save a good amount.

Feeling quite blessed and peaceful these days. I gotta keep this up!

  I think the most important part is your positive involvement with your daughter, and teaching her that being fit and healthy is not work, but fun! I hope you're still keeping up! Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Kwanzaa and New Year to you and your daughter!

I decided to come back to SP to get back on track with my fitness and weight loss goals. Coming back and reading my page, I see that I started at 166lbs when I joined this site. I was surprised when I saw that because I almost forgot that I had gotten that big. After I stopped coming to SP I was on and off with continuing toward my weight loss goals. The weird thing is everything I'd lose, I'd gain back right after. The weight I lost while using SparkPeople, I am happy to say I never gained back.

So here I am again....back to start. LoL. Here's to a healthier, more consistent lifestyle!! Things in my life have stabilized, and I see myself making more progress now then ever! I'm ready! :-)

8 Months Post-Fast

Hello All!

My, it has been a looong time! I never checked in after my fast was over, but let me tell you...I would NOT recommend fasting strictly for weight loss purposes. It doesn't work for long term weight loss. Why go to extremes? Just eat right and exercise, slow and steady wins the race!

A few days after my fast I stuck to my re-feeding plan, but then I went out with my friend, and we got to thing lead to another and I found myself damn near binging on Taco Bell! A big NO-NO!!!!! That week I re-gained 15lbs of the weight that I lost during my water fast. IN ONE WEEK!!!! And I wasn't even really over-eating, I was just eating what the normal every day American would eat. I was not extra strict on myself, as I probably should have been and my face ended up breaking out in hives among other negative symptoms I experienced.

I would recommend fasting if you want inner growth or for spiritual reasons because YES, it DOES work for that! But if you can't eat healthily and exercise consistently now, don't expect to be able to do it later (say, after a water fast). Figure out what is going on in your mind or with your self-esteem or environment that is causing you to not be motivated to take care of your health, and go from there! Where there's a will, there's a way!

No matter WHAT shortcuts you may try to take, it all boils down to eating right and exercising no matter which way you go, so stop beating around the bush and JUST DO IT!! Weight loss may seem slow at first or like it's taking a long time, but wouldn't you rather do it right the first time as opposed to rushing through and having to start over and over again? In the end doing it right the first time ends up taking less time then rushing through and repeatedly starting over.

Patience is a virtue!

Anyway, after the fast my mind DID clear up and I realized what my real problem was. I was surrounded by many negative people and it was affecting me negatively. It made it extremely difficult to succeed in anything that I attempted to do for myself and my daughter. I removed myself from that environment, I surround myself with love and motivating people and things, and now I feel like I can do anything I put my mind to without any fear that I may fail! You only fail if you QUIT!

After the water fast I pretty much stayed at 155lbs (I started the fast at 158, so without doing anything extra only 3lbs stayed off). But, I started the INSANITY program last Monday (it's going on 2 weeks now) and I have lost 4lbs already. I've been focusing on nutrition and exercise and I feel really good now that I am taking care of myself! My sister recommended that I use for my journey with INSANITY, so I've been logging everything on that site (just because she's on it with me)...but I do miss SP, and I just wanted to check in and give some updates!


Post Water Fasting - Day 2

Hi! So I ended the fast yesterday morning on day 22 of my water fast. My fast lasted 21 days and I lost 22 lbs. My ending weight yesterday was 136.4 lbs.

I broke my fast with coconut water, but I only drank 2 8 oz cups of it yesterday and the rest of the day I drank water. I'll drink more of it today, I just didn't want to overdo anything my first day of consuming calories. I listened to my body and I guess 2 cups of coconut water was enough for me lol. Tomorrow I will add in fruits for a few days and after that vegetables. I will also start tracking my exercise and food intake with sparkpeople starting tomorrow.

Today I weighed in at 136.6 lbs. So yes, I expect to gain some weight back especially once I start eating solids again, but with a good diet and exercise, I won't gain too much back and will probably lose the weight again. As long as I'm not overweight (Over 149 lbs), I'll be happy!

Water Fasting - Day 17

So, it's day 17 of my water fast, and even though my plan was to end the fast on day 15, as you can see I decided to extend the fast. I will be fasting until day 21. I extended the fast because I don't feel that my body is done detoxing. I have a slightly bad taste in my mouth and my tongue still has a white coating which are both signs of toxins being released.

But other than that, I feel great! My current weight is 140.4 and in case you don't remember I started my fast at 158.4 lbs.

I'm not trying to influence or encourage people to fast, I am just sharing my experience. I will update more often once the fast is broken.

    I've been drinking only water for the past 17 days. It's safe when you are monitored by a physician. I actually just saw a video on youtube of a woman who was attempting a 30 day fast and ended up having to go to the ER on her 5th day because she was dehydrated and her vitamin A and K were in the negatives. It's definitely not for everyone and being monitored while on an extended fast as a precaution is a must!

    Congratulations on your weight loss. Just to make sure I understand your blog, you have been living off of water for 15 days right? If so that's tough. Is that safe?
