BLC 26 Expectations

My expectations during this round of BLC are:

emoticon Lose at least 10 pounds

emoticon Drop another pants size

emoticon Get into a better exercise routine

emoticon Learn to eat more freggies

emoticon Make lots of new friends!!

BLC/DietBet Challenge Final Blog

So, the BLC Challenge is almost over...wow these last 4 weeks have flown by! The goal at the end of this challenge was to lose 4% in 4 weeks. As of today, I'm going to be a little short of that goal. I still have lost almost 6 lbs. these last 4 weeks...and Sunday's final weigh in is not here yet...so I'm not really that disappointed. I've worked really hard and had a great time!! I've worked out almost every day and have watched what I eat and I plan to continue this. I have thoroughly enjoyed this BLC/DietBet Challenge and even if I didn't get my 4% goal (or win any money), I would definitely do it again! I hope the next BLC Challenge starts up really really soon!!

BLC Challenge Blog: What I love about me

Ok....this took some thought. It really shouldn't be this hard to think of things I love about myself.....and so so easy to name numerous things that I don't love.

I guess the first thing that comes to mind is my eyes. I have my Daddy's eyes!! That's probably what I've got complemented on the most over the years.

I never give my nose much thought at all.....until my son was born. He definitely has my nose!! Which makes me love it because one look at him and there's no denying that he's my son!! :)

And I'll have to agree with another challenge team mate who said that they love how their body is changing! I definitely don't love my body, but seeing myself lose the weight and fit into smaller clothes is a really great feeling!!

June Goals

My Goals for this Month:

- Lose the 4% (8.4 lbs) needed for the BLC DietBet Challenge

- Exercise at least 3 times per week

- Eat more veggies! (This one is hard since I don't like many veggies at all!)

- Finish remodeling our living room and dining room (with my hubby's help of course!)

A little bit farther out goal of mine is to be under 200 lbs by July 19th! My little brother is getting married while he's home on leave from the Air Force! I think I can reach it if I stay focused and work hard!!

So Proud of my Hubby!!

Like me, my husband struggled with his weight most of his life. He was pretty much raised by his grandmother and there was never a shortage of food in the house. There was a southern cooked meal almost every night and, when his great-grandmother was living, there was a huge spread at breakfast too. By playing baseball and football, he kept his weight under control most of the time.

Around our Freshman or the first part of our Sophomore year in high school, my husband threw his arm out playing baseball. He was an awesome pitcher.....probably would've gotten a scholarship to play in college. I guess years of pitching more games in a row than he should have messed his arm up. The doctors told him that even with surgery, he'd probably never be able to pitch again. Not long after that, he dropped out of school. I'm really not sure what the exact reason was behind it..... there were some family things going on around that same time. After that was when his weight started to climb.

When I graduated from high school in 2006, my husband had lost a lot of weight...can't exactly remember how much though. I moved in with him the very next week and that's when both of our weight started to climb again.

We both put on quite a bit of weight over the last 8 years. We would gain some, then diet and lose some and then gain it and more all over again. It wasn't until about a year or so ago that my husband took losing weight seriously.

The week our son was born, my husband went in to see his doctor for a check-up and for him to get his meds refilled. When they checked his blood pressure, it was pretty high. The doctor told him that if he would lose at least 20 pounds, he may not have to go on blood pressure medication. That woke my husband up! His dad is on medication for blood pressure and he knew he didn't want to be on it as well. My husband knew he had to do something.

Since then my husband has lost 103 pounds!!! He went from 285 lbs down to 182 lbs!! He went from wearing 42x30 in pants and a XXL in shirts to a 30x30 in pants (some 32x30) and a M to L in shirts!! Everyone tells him how good he looks and are really impressed with how much weight he's lost. He's even inspired my dad to try to lose some weight. I'm so proud of him and it makes me want to work even harder!!!

This was taken in Mexico during our first cruise in Sept. 2011. I'm pretty sure this is close to his highest weight.

    love seeing that your husband is on board with you on this journey! Seems like having a child now really impacted him. You guys are a strong team and cheering for ya from here to stick with it. Teaching your son great things to be healthy and active. Ya both look fabulous!
