FOOD VS MAN

Monday, July 08, 2013

Ok. So after a very stressful day my wife wanted to have a slice of pizza from out local Italian neighborhood. It's really a GREAT deal; one slice (as big as your head) plus a 6 oz cup for all the soda you want.

I put on my Sparks-face and ordered a large Romaine salad with chicken breast. But the chicken was lightly breaded and fried. There was only about 2 oz of chicken breast pieces. And I had some French dressing on the side so I could DIP my salad with a fork just to get some flavoring. They GAVE ME a soda cup for FREE so I can drink WATER from the fountain.

Overall, I made the best from a last minute decision to dine out. Ohhh I also found out they have pasta here. So if this happens again I could maybe get some sauce on the side. mmmmm.

Good job! Of course, I would have had the pizza though! Pizza is my #1 food, all time favorite, can't live without it meal. I avoid it all week long so I can have some on my free day without the guilt!

Very wise, smart, intelligent and awesome decision making. I have not been any of those when it comes to pizza.
However our trips for pizza are a lot less than they were just 2 short years ago.

emoticon I would say you got a bulls eye on that meal.

I have a new workout partner

Wednesday, July 03, 2013

My wife has agreed to let me 'coach' her workouts and discuss daily meals with her FOR ONE MONTH! I am so excited and proud of her.

She does not yet like ALL the fresh veges and fruit as I do but we are incorporating more veges and fruit toward a balanced meal plan. NOT A DIET.

This helps me PLAN each workout and get her used to muscle toning. This is HUGE. All she ever did was Cardio...that alone never worked before. Now she is also focusing on her Core and muscle groups. Nicole's variety of toning and cardio is such a great help.

And in the end this also motivates and keeps my eye on the prize for my personal Spark plan.

Congratulations on getting your "better half" on the bandwagon. Working out together should really help to keep you focused and hopefully she really enjoys it so it makes it that much easier for the both of you to stick with it!

A new ENTRY plan

Thursday, June 27, 2013

I am building to get back to a ROUTINE. The most important part is getting my mind working toward ANTICIPATION of each day and week's goals.

It's key to think ahead and predict each outcome of eating and exercising. This is my new challenge after being away for several weeks. I so regret missing the great learning behavior and routine I had before.

But, I know it's time to reclaim my work toward a FITTER ME!

Planning and sticking to a routine can be very difficult for many people (me included). I say don't give up trying to get it done, eventually things will become normal habits and then it will seem easier, you'll want to do the right things.

Planning is my Biggest issue, it always has been. I like to just wing it but I have found that when I do this my food intake is nutritionally terrible. I keep an "emergency bag", I keep non perishable high protien food items in it so if I do find mysself flaking out on good eating i can jump right back in. I do have to say I try to eat a lot of protien because thats what has helped me the most on my journey. I feel your pain in getting back into a routine. I know some people even plan their exercise days out I tend to say I want ot exercise 4 or 5 times a week and then just do it with no set schedule. Good luck!

Calories burned and INTAKE

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

I have arrived. My life with Sparks has taught me to record my daily nutrition as well as exercise. The one challenge that I have is to EAT ENOUGH. Let me explain...Now that I am eating the right foods it is not always easy to EAT ENOUGH CALORIES, keep Carbs LOW (for diabetes), intake enough FAT, and also fulfill my daily FIBER. Plus any other nutrients that are necessary.

This is a good thing. I have to EAT MORE to WEIGH LESS. It's almost too good to be true.

A lot of people have the same problem. When we eat the good dense foods we stay feeling full longer and don't graze throughout the day. It can be hard to get in enough calories when you already feel satisfied!

I ACTUALLY GOT MY DOCTOR TO SMILE TODAY

Monday, March 11, 2013

I had a follow up visit today with my doctor. My A1C came down from 8.1 to 5.3 in3 months. She removed my Glimperide medication. i lost 18 pounds. My blood pressure is much lower and she may start lower MY BP meds in the near future if I keep showing improvement and working hard on my nutrition and exercise.

This is my dream come true'. A healthier and happier me! My goal is to loose 20 more pounds within the next 3 months. I vow to WORK HARD TO SEE THAT BECOME A REALITY....no matter how long and hard I apply myself. I hope this Blog will inspire at least one other person.

... at the end of our office visit today my doctor had this great big smile and said, "THAT'S WHY I BECAME A DOCTOR...TO HELP OTHERS GET RESULTS AND GET BETTER".
