Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no ones definition of your life, define yourself.-Harvey Ferstein.

    Too many people are letting themselves be bullied by simply not speaking up and standing up for what they believe in. We are afraid we might offend someone when we should be worried that we offend our God. emoticon

So true...

Sunday, April 21, 2013

Don't waste your time with "could've," "would've" or "should've." Focus on "can," "will," and "do."- Anon

A Child's Language-Anon

Saturday, April 20, 2013

Here's a poem I've had for years... haven't shared it in awhile...sadly there's more truth here than I'd like to admit....

A Child's Language

I learned my language as a child.
I heard it spoken, I laughed, I smiled, I learned to talk, to chant, to sing.
Then all too soon I had to bring my language to school.
I soon learned language was a tool, you can't just talk, that is the rule.
I'm learning to read and also write, but talking has to wait till night.
I'm good at talking, as most kids are, but my language has only come so far.
Now, I seldom speak out loud;
At school. "Sh!" It's not allowed.

    That's the Victorian way...children should be seen and not heard. That's no longer the norm in the classrooms I'm familiar with.
