My poor bike but...

Friday, May 31, 2013

Bright and early yesterday morning, I hopped on my bike for a ride... the wind was fierce... but I made it to the park and decided to park my bike and get a walk in... I parked in a grassy area and was almost finished, when I noticed the city mowers pulling in... so I finished my lap and opted to move my bike to the paved parking area... absolutely didn't want it to be in the way of the mowers.... :) As I was coming around from my LAST lap... I noticed my bike was blown over..... the wind was so strong it knocked my Schwinn down... scraping the fender and cracking BOTH comfort grips on the handle bars... I was so aggravated at myself.... especially when I realized the mowers didn't come anywhere near the part of the park my bike was in.... I did manage to get a little over a 6 mile walk in... before riding home for a total of 3 miles on my bike...... Now to search Amazon for new comfort grips!
Have a great day!

That was SOME wind! Hope you can find the replacement grips. I envy folks who are so comfortable on their bikes. Even after an expensive professional tuneup, I can barely keep air in the tires. Why do they go flat so fast? Perhaps I need to sign up for a bike maintenance class at REI.

Sorry your bike got damaged. Am amazed at the mileage you clocked, I can no longer do that. That is what I could do as a kid but today 1/4 mile would be a great feat for me. Have a great weekend.

One week...Blessings

Thursday, May 30, 2013

One week from today my hubby and I will be on a plane headed to Vegas, where we will meet up with our children and their spouses... they're flying on different days.... we're going to celebrate our daughter's 30th birthday! The agenda is kind of full.... Pawn Stars, Rick's Restoration, Zip Lining down Fremont Street emoticon, Eiffel Tower, Bobby Flay's Restaurant, etc.... I'm really looking forward to time with the kids without grandchildren; I absolutely LOVE my grandbabies, but tend to focus my energy on them when we're all together, so this adults only vacation is going to give us some reconnection time! (Momma and her babies!)
My son and his wife are flying to California first, so we will have their boys, Bennett 4 and Anderson 1 from Saturday thru Wednesday... FUN times! Of course, Layton 6 (our grandson that lives nearby) will be with us during part of that time... :) Love it! Baseball, swimming, local children's museum and simply hanging out!!!!!
Life is not perfect, but it's pretty darn good and I am truly blessed! Have a great day!

That's pretty amazing that your FAMILY plays together and spends time together to celebrate and enjoy the occasion. So many people do not know what that looks like...

Yesterday and today...

Wednesday, May 29, 2013

Yesterday was great... so enjoyed my time with my two grandsons in Perryville, as well as watching Layton play his first ballgame of the season! Of course, I did get some exercise in with all three boys, but its not the same as a WORKOUT! (Not complaining, I love ALL the time I spend with them) However, today I was at the gym by 6:00 for Cross Fit Training...still don't love it... but I'm trying... After class I headed to the park for a nice long 5.25 walk..... Feeling good.... don't have to be perfect...just have to keep moving....

Have a great day...

Wow! That is quite a bit of exercise! So, what is cross fit? Sorry to ask but I have never heard of it.
Glad you got to spend time with your grandkids! They grow up so fast (I don't have any yet but I am hoping to someday).
Sounds like a nice long walk! How long does that long a walk take you? I do a 1.8 mile walk in my neighborhood with some big hills and it takes a good 30 mins.
anyway, have a great week! emoticon

Sounds great! I am looking forward to walking more long distances since I need to start my MS Challenge Walk training and I think my knee has recovered enough to walk at least 3 miles. Keep up the great work!

I collapse when trying some of the Cross Fit moves. It really isn't for me. -- I might add in some kettle ball workouts to "mix" thing up!

Sounds like you are getting a lot of walking in. That's great. When it's too hot, rainy or just yucky, I like to walk indoors to my Leslie Sansone dvd's. I haven't been doing as well with my Sparking since I had to put my dog to sleep. Been feeling pretty dumpy. I miss her. Will get back to reading my friends blogs. Hope you are having a super week. Enjoy! Hugs, Nancy emoticon

Patience

Monday, May 27, 2013

Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections, but instantly set about remedying them-everyday begin the task anew.-Saint Francis de Sales

Patience and persistence are the crowning qualities of self-confident champions.-Dr. Robert Schueller

The strongest of all warriors are these two- TIME and PATIENCE.- Leo Tolstoy War & Peace
