Morning walk...

Tuesday, June 25, 2013

I managed to get a 6.33 mile walk in this morning before I started melting! Actually it wasn't too bad out until about the last 15 minutes or so... I started my walk at 8:10AM and finished at 9:55... so, of course the temperature and humidity was on the rise... All in all good walk...

Have a great day!

Camping and Family Fun!!!

Sunday, June 23, 2013

Friday afternoon we headed out for a weekend of camping... we took Layton, one of our six year old grandsons with us; and since we were camping at a park in our oldest son's area, he and his oldest son, Bennett age 4; asked if they could "tent' camp on our site... they've tried camping in their living room and the backyard... so this was the next step! We had a blast Friday night, swimming and just sitting around visiting! Saturday morning our daughter in law drove out with their youngest son, Anderson 16 months old; we ended up having all three boys with us so the kids could go car shopping!!! We swam for three hours.... ALL the boys loved it...last night it rained and rained and then rained some more, so we loaded up the boys and went to the movies, where we watched Monster University... great times.... we were all wiped out last night.... this morning... after breakfast and clean up time... (Our son came out to take his tent down, but his little guys were worn out and stayed home with mom) Layton and swam for about an hour and a half but all too soon it was time to head home... The camper is ALL cleaned up, laundry is done, and I'm getting caught up with Sparkpeople!! Great weekend.... Have a wonderful week my friends..

Temperature-vs- Heat Index

Friday, June 21, 2013

Yesterday I had already decided I was NOT going to go for a bike ride/walk, as I had blisters on both feet however, a trip to the mailbox made me change my mind, as it was absolutely gorgeous out! So, I put band aids on my blisters, laced up my sneakers and headed out on foot.... leaving my bike in the garage! I walked to our nearby park.... it was hot...but there was a slight breeze so not to bad... I used runkeeper.com on my cell phone to keep track of my time and distance... fastest mile was a right around 12 minutes... not too bad... after five miles, I headed home... on the way home my hands/arms starting feeling really tight... as I massaged my heads I realized my fingers and hands were really swollen... they hadn't been when I started out.... anyway... I finished my walk... extremely hot and sweaty..... but did get 5.98 miles in. After returning home, I heard on the radio that while the temp was only 81 degrees the heat index was 95! (Guess that explains the swelling and over heating I felt!!)
Hope everyone has a great day and weekend!

My hands swell in the heat too - and swinging them when I walk (plus ANY salt I have consumed) compounds the problem. If I remember, I will raise my arms above my head for some of the walk and then run cold water over my hands after the walk. It feels refreshing and calms the swelling.
Good job on getting your walk in! emoticon

Just checked the temperature here and it shows 90 degrees but heat index 104. Too hot for me. Amazing you were able to do almost 6 miles. emoticon

Joyce Meyer...PEACE!!!

Thursday, June 20, 2013

I've said this before but I really, really enjoy listening to her sermons/lessons! Today she's talking about PEACE.... peace within us....our reaction to circumstances and how we allow those circumstances to ROB us of our PEACE.... Hits home with me.... as I allow myself to get stressed over things that really, truly don't matter in the end! So... today I am going to focus on PEACE!!!!!! (I shall NOT allow little things (or big things) to ROB me of the PEACE that GOD gave to me!!!!)

Have a wonderful day! Peace be with you and yours!!!

Joyce Meyer is very popular, and for good reason. She hits the nail on the head very often.

Joyce Meyer and Joel Osteen have helped direct me in times of need in many ways, too. They are great!

By the way, I've read on SparkPeople, that if you're anxious, you're thinking about your future, if you're sad - you're thinking about your past, but if you're at PEACE, you are in the present. Let's enjoy the little things in life God has to offer us...like flowers and birds and the beautiful sky. I hope you have a very peaceful day.
