Chapter 2 Goal Setting

It was reaffirming to read about the importance of goal setting, not just long term, but middle term and short term as well. I think the goals I'd set prior to reading chapter two are right on target for me, although I may need to tweak them a little as time goes on.
In addition, I found the articles that go along with this chapter to be very inspiring! My personal favorite, perhaps because it hit close to home, was the one about the messages we give ourselves that can help (or hurt) me when it comes to reaching my goals! I am now going to make every effort to say only positive things to myself, which means I won't say anything to myself that I wouldn't say to a friend! Very simple concept, but one that I needed to hear today! emoticon

Slow and Steady Wins the Race!

Well, today was my weekly weigh-in and I'm happy to say that I'm down 2.2 pounds; this helps me maintain my goal of losing two pounds a week!
To top it off, the weather outside today has been absolutely beautiful, I enjoyed a delicious, but sensible Valentine's dinner with my hubby of thirty plus years... So all in all, it's been a great day!!! emoticon

End of Week 1

I began my Spark journey a week ago today and am happy to say that I'm even more excited about this SPARKPEOPLE than I was last week! I've had extra time to explore the website this week, due to 3 1/2 snow days, so I have much better understanding about what I'm doing!
In addition, I've made steady progress towards my BIG goals, by successfully completing my smaller goals!! Who knew I'd actually like "strength training"? Who knew getting healthy good good be so much fun? ? ?
Come on week two, I'm ready for you!!!

My biggest struggle this week has been in the area of technology, which is definitely NOT my strong point, there have been a few times that my stress level has gone up, but I've been pretty successful at controlling my stress as well!

Stress Busters

One of the Spark teams I opted to join is the Stress Busting Challenge; I chose this as one of the teams I wanted to commit to because I've seen the negative effects of stress not only in my own life, but in the lives of those around me as well!!
I've read several online articles on stress, but am especially fond of one that listed 7 ways to BUST or RELIEVE stress! Out of the seven choices the one that I was most drawn to today, was Call A Friend.. There is something about the voice of a good friend that can lift one's spirits and relieve stress.. So that's what I did today... Here's a thought... what if my phone call acted as a stress reliever for the person I called!!
