Weight Loss...

Thursday, August 30, 2012

In early June I made the choice to put my scale away, as I was allowing it too consume too much of "energy" on my path to a healthier me... I took it out this morning, as I'm getting ready to participate in SELF magazines 8 week challenge and have to record my weight... Long story short... previous weight 190 current weight 186.2.... I'm perfectly fine with that.... as it puts me that much closer to my "healthy" BMI..... as well as a total of 100.8 pounds lost since I first started my journey!!! YEAH!!!!

Enthusiasm...

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

If you aren't fired with enthusiasm, you will be fired with enthusiasm.-Vince Lombardi

As a teacher, it is of vital importance to me to approach my daily tasks with enthusiasm, as I want to inspire my students... If I'm not enthusiastic about what we're doing how can I expect them to get excited? We must remember that we may be teaching something for the umpteenth time but it's most likely the first time our young people have been introduced to it... they deserve no less than our first eager class of learners received.... ENTHUSIASM!!!!

This is so true! No only do they learn it better, but it leaves a better imprint and sticks with them longer, maybe even for life. I always strive to be enthusiastic in my homeschooling!

Voting...

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Just heard a story on our local news that 90 million, yes 90 million Americans are choosing NOT to vote this year... Why? They are too busy... really, really??? This just amazes and greatly disappoints me... as I am a strong strong supporter of one American, one vote... I PUSH my students as well as anyone else who will listen to get VOTE... it's not only our right it's our responsibility.... VOTE!!! VOTE!!! VOTE!!!
Please feel free to disagree with me... as that is our right too!

Have a wonderful day!

I am also an avid voter and wear my, "I voted today, did you?" sticker proudly. I do not understand complacency. It is sad.

I find this to be SO true in my own life, especially in my positive/negative self-talk during a workout. If I believe in myself then I find the strength within to reach my goal. If I am afraid I can't do it or won't reach my goal I can barely put one foot in front of the other. So move over weakness because I AM STRONG!

Try... just... Try.

Sunday, August 26, 2012

This morning I was feeling especially brave... so after warming up during my walk I decided to try "jogging" a bit... something I've believed was beyond me.... but I'm happy to report that I was successful. Now... I didn't "jog" for a great distance... but would walk for five minutes then jog for up to a minute... then try it again.... t was tough but I did it...
This serves as a reminder NOT to limit ourselves to what we think we can or can't do....instead we should TRY... Just TRY and see what happens!!!

Have a great afternoon!!

Great work! That's exactly how I started running - run 2min, walk 1min and gradually work up until you can run longer periods of time. Take time, go slow, and soon enough you'll be running straight for longer than you ever thought!

Thank you for this blog. I jog on the elliptical, but I have a total phobia of jogging on solid ground. A friend of mine invited me to run a 5K with her and I know I should be able to do it, but I have been afraid to try. Thank you! I hope you have a GREAT week!

Nice job! I've just started back to jogging, too. I use the telephone poles as my guide. At first I could only jog from one pole to the next and then have to walk for "four poles" but each day I'm doing more and more! Go slow--avoid injury! Keep up the good work! emoticon
