“Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat. ”
¯ Theodore Roosevelt
I received this quote from a friend yesterday and the timing was perfect, as my gifted students and I have been discussing the importance of NOT giving up or NOT trying when something is hard.... I am blessed to work with such bright, talented students, but am disappointed when one or more of them makes the decision to quit an activity, this time it's band... not because they don't like it, but because it's HARD!!! We had a lengthy discussion about how important it is that we ALL try hard things, as those hard/difficult activities help us grow and mature... it was a very indepth discussion, but suffice to say, that this quote is a perfect follow up and I will be sharing it with them as well!!!
