Eh

Saturday, April 24, 2010

The last few days have been rough, diet-wise. I'm still not getting enough calories and it's really starting to irritate me.

I also applied to and was accepted into a Patisserie and Baking school, but found out that I can no longer get pell grants, my bright futures 75% scholarship expired and federal loans will only cover like 9 grand a year or something like that... leaving me to provide 5 grand out of pocket for the semester. By July 6. Not. Gonna. Happen. Did I mention I'm unemployed?

So I'm really upset about that... thankfully I'm not an emotional eater. I have however, had several more Cokes than I allow myself, and I ate out twice today (it was eat out or not eat anything until dinner). I didn't even bother tracking my food today.

But I'm getting back on that tomorrow, and while I haven't really fallen off the wagon, I feel more convinced I need to STAY on the wagon.

Day 8 - Kinda slow day

Monday, April 19, 2010

This has been a so-so day. I followed my diet for breakfast and lunch and was doing really good. Dinner went fine too, but my husband wanted a pizza for dinner and so I had to find something to make for just myself. I made my dinner, but I ended up under calories. I still have a snack left, but its not going to be enough calories to put me into a good range. However, I feel good.. not sick OR hungry, so I'm not going to stress over it.

From tracking my food this week, I have noticed I have a serious lack of fiber in my diet. I'm trying to get my fiber from my diet and not take a supplement, but I just don't know what to do. When I went shopping, I got a really great fiber cereal, but that still isn't enough for the day. Aside from eating cereal all day or fiber bars (oy, I don't want to eat any granola/fiber bars. ICK.. it's a texture thing I think emoticon), I'm at a loss. I mean, I can't exactly eat beans EVERY day? So, even if I get it one day, how can I do it again without eating the same stuff OVER and OVER? I guess I will do some more research and if I still can't get it, I'll just get a supplement.

On a lighter note, I went shopping and picked up a few little things to work out
* a pilates kit including: an exercise ball, two 2lb sand weight balls, 2 stretch bands and a workout DVD
* a pedometer - let me say I'm NOWHERE near 10,000 steps! I hit 1000 during my walk today. True, it didn't have my steps while AT the store... but I'm sure it's not even 5000. To be fair, I went on my short walk today, so maybe the long one will be a bit better.
* a jump rope - burns more calories than I thought it would!

I'm on a roll. I just gotta keep moving!

Day 7

Monday, April 19, 2010

Didn't do much of anything today.

One thread in a group I am in, is a jump rope challenge where you post how many jumps you did. I didn't have a jump rope, so I went to the nearest store to hunt one up. The only one they had was in the toys section, I was concerned that it would be too short, but the tag said 7 feet, so I thought... well maybe...

Or maybe not. WAY too short lol. While I was there, I also spied a hula hoop. I've seen some workouts include a hula hoop, so I figured I would give it a go. Wow. Lets just say, I no longer know how to hula hoop! But I got a few good laughs out of the experience. And so did my husband. emoticon

So tomorrow, I'm going to take the jump rope back and see if I can find one that is long enough... and maybe practice my hula hooping skills. Ha! I've also got a few random chores, the least exciting of which is moving my desk and cleaning my fish tank. Fun.

Now, I think it's time for bed. Later Spark!

Days 5 & 6

Saturday, April 17, 2010

Yesterday and today.

I didn't really do so well on my diet yesterday. I started out real good for breakfast and had a good sandwich for lunch. But I went to the beach and with all that swimming I felt ravenous! I simply didn't bring enough food with me. So I had some potato chips, a frozen yogurt (chosen over actual ice cream!) and a subway sandwich (chicken breast and LITE mayo) spread out through the day.

Today has been MUCH better now that I'm home. Fruit and yogurt for breakfast, sandwich and grapefruit for lunch.

Plus, despite my slips yesterday I managed to lose TWO pounds since I weighed on tuesday!

Yeah it started getting warm here in Florida last month! I love going to the beach... but deep down I HATE summer. It's just TOO hot lol.

Yay! Must of been the extra swimming that did it. Man... to be able to go to the beach in April - oh that would be heaven. Its to cold up here. LOL. Good job on the two pounds :)

yes, and what has surprised me is that it hasn't been hard at all to say no to sweets. Maybe I really can do this thing!

Wow, two pounds you are emoticon Probably the swimming or what else you did was why, so don't worry about messing up now and then, the important thing is you are back on track.

Have a great weekend.

Day 4

Thursday, April 15, 2010

It's day 4 of restarting my diet. So far, I'm doing really good. I've had only one coke, no junk food, and I ate out only once.

Right now, this is what I'm doing (subject to change at any time emoticon):

Breakfast - Low Fat Vanilla Yogurt (store was out of fat free), topped with fresh strawberries, kiwi, grapes, and walnuts; 1 boiled egg, without yolk; and 1 glass of orange juice.

Lunch - 1 Sandwich thin, rotisserie chicken breast, tomato, mustard, fat free cheese and lettuce; a fresh fruit; veggie; water.

Dinner - varies and is usually my largest calorie meal. But there is always a meat and two sides (usually veggies, but sometimes rice). water.

Then I have 2 strategically placed snacks of: alternating between saltines and 1 wedge laughing cow lite cheese, yogurt, fruit, raw veggies.

So far, things are going great and I haven't been hungry (I'm usually sickly hungry when trying to eat right, but I think I'm getting closer to getting it "right" this time).

I also have noticed from tracking that I need to up my fiber, but that will have to wait for the next shopping trip.

In all I'm feeling really good, eating right, and still looking forward to eating (usually when "dieting" I dread eating cause it's not tasty and never filling). So I must be doing something right!

Hunger was my biggest problem in the past. You can even check a few of my old "whiny" posts about being hungry. But by spreading out my meals (I'm eating every three hours ) I don't have an chance to get really hungry. I only worry about when I finally find a job... I don't know what schedule I will have. My last job made it difficult with 6 or 7 hours in between meals. But I hope I find a good job with realistic break schedules.
