Electric Run

Monday, July 29, 2013

What has feathers, a tutu, lighted earrings and shoelaces and is totally covered in neon colors... Me! doing the Electric Run at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

My friend, Geneva and I before the run...I don't think those smiles came off the entire night!

The starting line...it took thirty minutes to get to the actual start (plenty of time for some great people-watching emoticon emoticon emoticon )

This was one of our favorite sections.

I have to give a special shout-out to my son for driving 40 minutes to bring me my race number when I forgot it at home. Oops! emoticon

Can't wait until next year! Think I might get my hubby to wear a tutu, too. emoticon

Those who can run, run and those who can't walk - I walk and sometimes wish I could run, my health does not allow such. Enjoy running!! Be blessed and spark on

You can do it. I'm with Kitt52. Tea is a great way to help get enough water. Good luck meeting your goals!

how about green tea....it might be better than plain water, unless you love plain water....
small steps helped me loose 200+ pounds and have kept most of them off for over years....

Even small steps eventually could take you across the Grand Canyon! Great approach; best of luck, Pat

12 Races in 12 Months- Complete!

Monday, November 05, 2012

I haven't been very active on Sparkpeople lately because, after 20 years of being mostly a stay-at-home mom, I'm now working outside the home full-time. I was nervous about getting back into the workplace but I've been blessed with a job I absolutely love. Praise God! emoticon

I thought I would just pop in to share the completion of a goal my hubby and I started working on last year...running a race a month for a year. This is something we had tried to do 10 years ago when we first started running but something always came up...work, injuries, life, etc. I'm happy to report- we reached our goal October 28th. emoticon emoticon

We had a blast and we're looking to set some new goals for next year. emoticon

Inspirational Runner

Sunday, July 22, 2012

Margaret (a legend in our parts emoticon) is 89 and is a frequent participant in our local road races. Here she is coming in at yesterday's Greenway 5k.

She took first in the Female 70-100 category and I loved her excitement as she waited to see if she had won. She is definitely an inspiration for all of us who say, "I could never do that because I'm too ___ (fill in the blank)"

She is totally amazing. We have an 85 year old woman who still runs agility courses with her dog. Thanks for posting about such an inspiration!

3 Months progress & Race #7

Wednesday, May 30, 2012

At the end of February, I read a book called to "Made to Crave" that changed my life. I've since lost 25lbs and shaved 4 minutes off my 5k time.

While looking at photos from our latest race (hubby & I have a goal of running one a month for 12 months), I took a look at pics from just 3 months ago...I'm seeing and feeling a difference. Three months ago I was struggling through the whole race; this week's race, I felt comfortable enough to talk with other runners and cheer people on when they needed it. Yes, I'm still a 'back-of-the-pack-er' but I had fun and totally enjoyed the race. emoticon

I have back problems and some joint issues so I wasn't sure that this would be possible; now there are tinges of hope and that's exciting. I just want to encourage everyone to keep trying until you find what works for YOU. Don't give up!! If I can do it, emoticon
